Re: Canaccord maint 14p tgt I hope it works out for you Kenji - good luck. Adding you to my favourites, nice polite poster.
Re: Canaccord maint 14p tgt Thanks for your comments CB. You are not wrong in your observations, and I have often criticised PH on this BB myself. POG got into trouble by borrowing heavily to expand just as the gold price started to dip after reaching a high of $1900 in Septemeber 2011. POG were far from the only miner to be caught out by a combination of falling commodity prices, and large debt.I believe that PH was too complacent at first, and sat back waiting for the gold price to rise and save the day. He left it far too long to address the refinancing issues despite warnings from JP Morgan that POG would not be able to repay their bondholders. The company then did little or nothing to stop the sp plummeting as the bondholders negotiations dragged on for a year. However, as you say Pavel is back to help, and both he and Peter have invested heavily in the Rights Issue. If you were investing from scratch now, then there may well be better gold miners to choose from. However, I was heavily invested here, so taking up my rights was the only chance of recouping my money. Perhaps, I am throwing good money after bad? Personally I do not think so. The RI shares are already showing a 20% profit to the offer price, so my losses have already lessened. The market, like you, has lost faith in PH and his gold mine, but this can swiftly change with good production results and a rising gold price. PH kept his word when he promised that shareholders who participated in the Rights Issue would not be diluted. So I respect his integrity, if not his past performance.Afren on the other hand have treated their shareholders with nothing short of contempt, so I have cut my losses in Afren, and sold out. I see no future in investing in a company whose BoD are working against the interests of their shareholders.
@ Canillasboy, where did you read or hear 'high probability of disposal of IRC in 2015'?
is at the low end of the cost curve, as it is stated that the K&S mine is able to produce and deliver iron ore for 54USD per tonne to the Chinese border! My bet is that the Chinese (GN and Minmetals) waited how the refinancing of POG would work, guess they will now complete the share subscription as they already invested 170m US in IRC for 80%, so final payment should not be a problem! Hopefully IRC results will not be consolidated in 2015 POG results!
IRC is a big drag indeed and investors in POG want it for the gold exposure and not for iron ore exposure. However, there is a lot of oversupply in the iron ore markets which will force lower cost producers out. IRC is
Tomorrow (tonight) the official results of IRC, cash loss attributable to shareholders will be 50m. As POG still holds +-45% the loss attributable to POG will be around 22m. Important to see how POG shareholders will react to yet another cash loss and huge non-cash impairments.
