Re: Selling certificated holding Thanks Gordon - I'll give them a call
Re: Sold Au revoir W13-KEN, the way, are you in any way related to W8-BEN?
Re: Sold Sorry folks, I'm out too. It's the end of an era as I've held Pace shares since the last century.Good luck to those of you that keep the faith, as you deserve continued success, and especially to xgxg whose information has been very helpful and whose positivity has been a wonder to behold.Cheers,
Re: Sold Bye Gordon, and others exiting today. It rather oddly has the feel of the last day of school. I am holding until I see how ARRS behaves today after 2:30 and may hang on to around half my holding for now.
Re: Selling certificated holding Loytyb 13. I have just sold mine took ten minutes on the phone and cost 1.5% of trade total.Capita on 03716640445.Apparently they can do same day paper trade as they are the company registrars. My local broker needed at least 10 days.Hope this helps,it is more expensive but there is now not enough time do do other ways.
Sold Sold all this morning, thanks to all you lovely people that as helped and informed me.I wish you all the best in your future holdings.Gordon.
Re: Selling certificated holding I dont know about certificated holdings, but my broker is Redmayne Bentley, they seem to do everything (at a ~ahem~ price) but good personal service. It is they that stated NO W8-BEN cert will be needed to hold ARRS (New) - dividends will be paid in US$ but ONLY subject to UK tax as normal, and of course tax free in an ISA.Therefore keeping ARRIS (to keep our beloved PACE) is far simpler than expected.Im not sure about arrs reaching $40 any time soon, but $35 short term seems quite possible IMHO
Selling certificated holding Just tried to sell via HL and I can't trade a certificated holding. Anyone got any ideas who will trade Pace on a certificate asap?!
Re: Decision Time: CORRECTION after writing the previous note, by broker phoned me. No need for a WBEN8 form this time, because although quoted on the NASDAQ only, the new ARRIS will be incorporated in the UK. therefore it will work like any other regular UK plc. However she warned me that if I want to sell the deadline is today at 4:30 not tomorrow because of D+1 settlements.I may reduce somewhat to lock in profits, but will decide after Wall street opens.Best to all
Re: Decision Time It's all down to your broker. Generally the Cowboys cannot handle this type of process, but all regular brokers will advise you of the need for a WBEN8 form and supply it. It covers you for one year for all US holdings in order to avoid double tax on dividends.Last time I did this was for VERIZON shares in partial exchange for VODAPHONEDYOR etc.
Re: Decision Time From all discussions on this subject the 'individual' NEEDS to discuss this DIRECTLY with whoever is holding their shares. It seems every case comes up with slightly different answers. If you deal through iii contact them and ask.As I understand the initial hurdle is ensuring that you have a W8-Ben form filed to enable US based stock holding and trading. This should be a formality. The sooner this is done the better. I did this several months ago with my dealing company after I found that I could not buy or sell NASDAQ listed shares until I had completed this form.I also now plan to collect the £1.325 x 'x' shares and then carefully watch what happens to my NA share allocation - Expecting them to rapidly climb through the $40 per share price relatively quickly and then who know??? The W8-Ben relates the the US tax you will owe if NA pay any dividends NOT what money you get when you sell the NA shares. This is still between you and your individual home country tax authority.
Decision Time It seems today will be the day to go, or stay.As a longer time holder or Pace, I believe that Pace is still 'undervalued' at today's price. The BOD have badly let all of the 'smal'l share holders down.So I feel that I should stay, and hope that that the Arris share price will rise next year. But, what happens if I 'take' the Arris shares, will they still be kept in my 'normal' iiishare holdings? If so, will I be able to 'sell' them through iii in the 'normal' way, and what sort of 'additional' costs would there be? Would it be 'easy' to do.Has anybody got experience with dealing with US share?Any help would be appreciated.
Re: Pace shares in ISA account Congratulations for hanging in there xgxg, it takes nerves of steel. Let's hope that New Arris does take off as promised. Only a couple of days left now before Pace shares are suspended. I've decided to hold onto my shares and see how Arris plays out next year. It would be rude not too!Seasons greetings and good luck all.
Re: Pace shares in ISA account Gieriheid - Yes an old and long time friend who worked at Pace twice I think. I remember Pace right from the start too. Pace BT modems etc. At one time I worked at the jewel next door. Filtronic which unfortunately went down the toilet. Filtronic built an impressive building to over shadow Pace at Salts Mill but Pace won in the end. I was also with CSR in Ilkley which rapidly rose and just as quickly fell when they were hit by the ISC/Ferranti debacle. CSR should have stayed away. Good old days.I too wish I had had a pot of cash to invest in Pace at the start. I did buy in when they went public and when I sold my house at a small profit in the late 90's I ploughed it into Pace before the momentous climb to 1200p. I too sat and watched as the SP came down just as quickly always thinking (stupidly) - "stupified" that the SP was "only" going down before it would rise higher than the 1200 and all would be good again. It never was!!!Since then I have bought rather than sold always hoping to cover that great on paper loss. Now I will be walikng away with about a £million* when the dust settles on the Arris deal. When I sell the New Arris.* could be more if the New Arris rise above $36 which I expect they will once the numbers start to come into the Investors sights.
Re: Pace shares in ISA account So much time has passed and things happened since I was at Pace, I can't honestly say I remember P Garret, but the name does ring a bell...friend of yours xgxg?I was interviewed for my job by Rob Fleming, and was there when Barry Rubery and David Hood were in charge. Joined just as Pace went from Ltd to PLC - exciting times and a great place to work...most of the time.I wonder if anyone remembers Alan Sugar look-a-like Malcolm Miller? Then John Dyson took over, followed by Neil Gaydon ...[link] was certainly a roller coaster ride for shareholders and Pace workers alike. I distinctly remember a senior exec telling his team that Malcom Miller had said the share price could rocket above £10. It was down below 100p at the time (lowest I bought at was 16p) and rocketed above 1200p...if only I'd had the cash to invest and had the faith!!!
