Everyone likes a bit of... Raspberry Pi. Especially now it has a touch screen and brokers are thinking this could improve sales. 7%+ increase in share price today on the back of this which is the best day PF have had in a while.

Re: Whilst the world melts down... Yup.I am one of those punters and product comes out on time... I do see their US distribution competition getting stuff to your UK door (VAT and import cleared) within 2-3 days from US warehousing - ususally at better pricing (perhaps reflecting puchase scale?)...Looks like they have been introducing new IT systems in last 6 months observing stuff as a customer. But I bought into their weakness (again) and agree with fundamentally they are OK and issue is management.A

Re: Whilst the world melts down... Looks like a good move Frankers. I'm guessing there isn't as much wrong with PFL, given it's long history, that has been suggested by the stock price fall.It just needs someone to manage the outfit properly, fire any bozos and get the cost down, the marketing properly directed and make sure the IT system delivers with operations getting the product out the door on time to the punters.Games -- wild guess on my part, having bought into this too early. Still we beat them at football when I worked at Texas Instruments.

Whilst the world melts down... ...I've bought 2,500 more at a shade over £1.20 Let's hope they don't cut the dividend in September otherwise this could spell more trouble. Anyway, you know what they say, buy into a falling market...gla as ever!

Re: Chief Exec sacked Well spotted. Good for the activists, they've given the board a good fright already. Anyone for an ECM merger?

Omaha man 14 Aug 2015

Chief Exec sacked With immediate effect. Good to see the board taking some aciton. This is likely to give the market some reason to hold, though a new CEO is probably more likely to feel free to chop the dividend. On balance i will continue to hold, but certainly not brave enough to top up.

Re: Bad timing "I welcome the activist investor, the company needs a good shake up......"I agree with this -- It's unlikely these guys would have taken a position in PFL unless they saw significant underlying value here or the possibility of a trade sale.Whatever happens to the divi, I'm guessing - with a fair wind behind us and a bit of patience we could still do OK here.Games

Re: Bad timing The divi could be under threat, but I would have thought that the most likely outcome will be the sale of some underperforming assets. I welcome the activist investor, the company needs a good shake up......

Frankers70 06 Aug 2015

Bad timing Well, I dip my big toe in, disappear on holiday for 10 days and come back to what looks like disaster and I'm a couple of grand lighter! It's all in the timing and I got this badly wrong. Two quick things, is the dividend now under threat? If so, the city won't like a cut and the share prIce will fall further. If the company could be sold, then the shares could gain the recent loses on market speculation alone I should think. Will HOLD for now in the hope that the worst is over...GLA that are holding.

Activist Note the arrival of an activist investor. PFL will have to start performing - or else!

Market value I haven't sold out and I'm not going to at this price. I wish that I had waited to double up.Two comments:The exchange rate is going to be a much bigger problem for British industry than anyone realises. You can't hedge for long at good rates. Rising interest rates will make the problem worse.I think that PFL is now a target. You can't underperform the competition for this long and expect to keep your job. PFL has also disappointed the market, an awful lot seems to have changed in only three monthsHaving said the above, the shares are reasonable value at this price, I think. All the analysts got this one wrong. In other words none of them did independent research, in my view. Always the way.......

PFL Bid:138.1p Offer:138.6p Change:-28.329.20amLooks like PFL is now being rated a junk stock!Probably because of the following statement in the RNS Trading statementIn light of these challenging trading conditions, the Board has recently commenced a review of the Group’s operations and will provide an update on this review in September as part of the interim results announcement.”
