Back in at £1 me thinks Recently - this gone friday sold off - with a 11.5% profit thats all charges excluded ... Have a set order at £1 another tanche ...... Hope it hits the mark tomorrow
160p offer rumour... ...reason for yesterday's/today's upswing (in the independent)What do everyone think? In any case, this will rebound in my humble opinion so no reason not to top up!
Re: ECM results Closed up by 3%Can we have some more grim results?
ECM results Fairly grim results out of ECM this morning, which probably won't help. All the more reason for ECM and PFL to merge.....
Not good I agree that the latest options are just another example of nefarious executive behaviour. Everything about this board smells wrong. I just hope that the new investors put the squeeze on them, hard. They deserve it.
Re: Absence of Director deals But from today's announcement it would appear the directors are prepared to load themselves up with nil cost (zero risk) share options.
From Telegraph "Fresh rumours of a tie-up between electronics distributors Premier Farnell and Electrocomponents circulated in the City, triggering a rally in afternoon trade. There has long been talk of the pair merging, but this time traders pointed to the amplified bounce in the Electrocomponents share price as a reason to be hopeful. The stocks significant jump up 25.4p, or 13.4pc, to 214.9p has not accompanied acquisition chatter in the past.Only last week Electrocomponents plunged to levels last seen five years ago, after second-quarter revenue growth slowed on weakening US manufacturing output.Meanwhile, shares in Premier Farnell, which has been rocked by two profit warnings this year, climbed 3pc to 111p.Last month, the troubled electronics group, which crashed out of the mid-cap index in the latest review, announced plans to sell its firefighting equipment company, Akron Brass, and slashed its dividend payout.Earlier this year, revelations that activist investor GO had taken a stake in the company led analysts to believe it would agitate for a sale."
Absence of Director deals Disappointing to note that none of the directors has shown enough confidence in the recovery, or even maintenance of a decent dividend, to buy stock even at this (hopefully) very depressed level.
Re: Topped up Taken the plunge and added this morning on the weak ex dividend price of 102. I think the first hope for a bounce has to be the appointment of a new Chief Exec. Wouldn't be entirely surprised to see it drift lower but have to agree with the comments about value expressed by a number of others here.
NEW ARTICLE: Stockwatch: A share to buy at multi-year low "With its chart plunging to multi-year lows around 105p, is the fall in leading electronics component distributor LSEFLremier Farnell already overdone?A reliable strategy is buying industry leaders when sentiment is against, especially where ..."[link]
Re: FTSE Demotion There are very few funds which track the FTSE250, I would not expect this to have had any significant impact.
Telegraph- Questor I don't agree but here is their view:"Premier Farnell shares crash on profits warning: Electronics distribution group premier Farnell has seen its shares slump to a record low after issuing a second profit warning in just a few months. Questor thought the stock offered exposure to a recovery in Europe, but worsening trading in the U.K. and U.S. has resulted in sharp losses. It operates on very tight profit margins and it doesnt take much of a change in trading to have a big impact on profitability. Premier now expects adjusted operating profit for the full year to be between £73 million and £77 million, compared with adjusted operating profit of £88 million last year. The company launched a restructuring after a profit warning in July, while Chief executive Laurence Bain stepped down in August. He was replaced by finance Director Mr Whiteling, who took over as interim Chief Executive Officer. The shares collapsed to an all-time-low of 110.4p in early trading, before closing at 112p. Premier Farnell at 112p-21.3p. Questor says Sell. "
FTSE Demotion Today was the last day of PFL in FTSE-250. So I assume at least part of the fall today is due to tracker funds selling. Market was weak as well.I am hoping for recovery from this point in the medium to long term, and have doubled up my holding.nk
Re: Results out So what, in your view, did HG do wrong?
Re: Results out Harriett Green planted the seeds of the problems here. Bain was too weak to sort them out and ends up the fall guy.
