Positive news today. No doubt the prospect of corporate activity has highlighted the weak strategic leadership of Premier Foods so it is perhaps no surprise that Mr. Cheever is leaving.

Re: share sale. Personally, I would like the price to go up, so I can sell some shares for no other reason than to mitigate a 'decent' loss... LS

Re: share sale. Re house prices - I was merely illustrating that directors often have a real need for cash, so a share sale does not necessarily mean that they do not have confidence in the company. The price has just whizzed up again so decided to top slice again at 50.81p and of course the price kept going up. Now 51.25-51.5p... but its a case of a bird in the hand....The B

Re: share sale. Guys you are overanalysing this stuff way way too much. Assessing local house prices to determine the rationale for director share sales ? Just like the company let's focus on what really matters, the performance of the company. I like the new products, I like the new marketing and I think a corner could have been turned on sales growth. I would love to see decent international growth which I'm sure could get analysts excited. However long way to go on all of these.I always think with takeovers, no point talking about it until something is on the table. Is a takeover possible, yes, it is guaranteed, no, is it guaranteed the directors would even let it go to investors, no.Therefore unless I hear otherwise I will be judging this one on performance. With the small market capital of this one the good news is there is plenty of headroom to the upside.

Re: share sale. My memory is a bit vague now but I believe that I had a discussion on share sales with a PFD director some time ago and he had a need for cash to pay for his outgoings. St Albans is one of the most expensive places to buy houses in the UK, so the share sale could simply be to get some cash as opposed to losing faith in the company. I had a similar discussion with other (non PFD) directors and some of them genuinely needed some cash - and had too many eggs in one basket with both salary and share based savings in the same company.I recently top sliced some of my PFD shares - not because I have lost faith in them - but PFD is what I call a Yo Yo share - so one buys at the lows and sells at the highs - making good short term profits. As always one does not know what the local highs and lows will be - but the large swings give good scope to make money on half right timing! The B

Re: share sale. sorry that I bothered to enhance your knowledge rikid, as it seems you have no vested interest here, not one that wants the share price to rise anyhow. After the rejected takeover approach part of your post read "I will be surprised if the SP doesn't find a level in the 20s as the year progresses".Hardly a post from an investor is it?Will be topping 60p by xmas with all those lovely french fancies and bake well tarts, ooh err ma'am !!FP (blessed with the uncanny ability to spot em a mile away)

Re: share sale. Surprised he didn't sell them at 65p, now left with a small holding. What does he know that we don't ========== ========== Whats surprising that he couldn't sell in a closed period? You obviously do not understand the metrics of M&A within a company. I guess being as the shares were trading at 29p prior to PFD employees going into a closed period he thought he would take advantage of a 60% rise and sell, nothing wrong with that and certainly does not constitute your suspicions about " what does he know that we don't".Perhaps if your that perturbed by it, then sell up yourself, if you hold any shares that is?Slowly slowly catch a monkey.

Re: Kite Lake Capital Management This was en error. The Kite Lake Capital information was regarding PREMIER FARNELL.The increase today was due to a broker upgrade, plain and simple. But I think this is the start of the "fun season"for PFD.GLA

Re: Kite Lake Capital Management Yes but a huge rights issue in between so a lot more shares in circulation now so 220p in new money is closer to 400p in old (when you take into account the extra capital raised from issue).

Fred Prior 29 Jul 2016

Re: Kite Lake Capital Management Hopefully a bid will come but no sign of one yet I'm afraid. Even if one comes who can be sure that the management won't just bat it away like the last one.========== ========== ====I don't think any next potential bid (providing it is higher than the last) will be turned away this time, as previously stated, if a bid should come in around the 80-90p range, the majority would sell, I think any future bid would be hostile anyway, as anyone already looking would have learnt that the BoD don't do formal.Just my opinion, would be just as happy if we slowly crept back to 75p and PFD re introduced a divi when appropriate, hard to believe we were trading 220p a few short years ago.....
