Volatility/April 13th Have a look at April 12-13A jump of >6% in one day - again based on no news or updates.Clearly the shorters must have closed some of their positions that day.The effect they have on the SP really is a disgrace, especially on the back of no new news or updates.A large group of us investors believe something really needs to be done about this. The FCA/Market Abuse team have been notified - again

Re: SpainFund/old news It sounds like the concern is not over Brits abandoning their pets, but margins being squeezed due to the paradigm shift to online retailing. So sales could remain robust but profits could be impacted nonetheless. Retailers with large physical stores have been under pressure since the era of Tesco like expansion came to an end. Now Tesco are stuck with loads of expensive oversized stores. I guess the market worries if the same will happen to pets. There were many who could not see online replacing certain segments and niches and they have almost all been proved wrong.Catching a falling knife is one of the basic investment mistakes and so it's a brace investor who takes a position in a stock which has been on a downtrend for over 2 years now. Even the technicals look broken as it's fallen out of the channel to the downside.

Re: SpainFund/old news The Brits will not abandon their dogs, cats, rabbits, parrots etc. even in a recession.I agree and I don't think we are in a recession anyway .

Thedarkkn1ght 12 May 2017

SpainFund/old news That's old news from yesterday morning and based on one broker note we saw 10% lopped off the SP.Disgrace.One thing I know about the Brits - they love their pets! Spending will hold up.Results only a wee week away now - let us see.I predict flat/marginal increase in revenues and profits with vet and grooming services showing high growth.Another rise in dividend highly likely also taking the yield to 5.5%Shorts at 7% up from 4%I suggest they close these ASAP as PETS is not some miner or oil explorer that is ladened with debt - this is a relatively defensive business and it will not go bust any time soon!!This was >300p not so long ago .The Brits will not abandon their dogs, cats, rabbits, parrots etc. even in a recession.

Further Downside ☹️ Read this:Regarding General Retailers, Morgan Stanley inked a note saying; "We believe that Dunelm, Halfords and Pets at Home all rely on gross margins that are unsustainable in the age of online retailing and discounters. All three have been underperforming for some time, but we see considerable further downside. We see Pets at Home forecasts as the most at risk near term.

Re: Director buying Yes they will be in a closed period with results only 8 working days away. Some good suggestions from experienced investors and colleagues to combat the run on the company's share price and to attack the shorters include releasing results early as we do not feel the results will be as a bad as some are making out.Up until the Q3 update in Jan things did seem ok with stable/rising revenues and 'profits to meet expectations'. Fundamentals and technicals suggest this is over-sold.

Re: Director buying "why are directors not picking up more shares? Or are they in a closed period?"Annual results due on 25th May, so could well be in closed period.nk

Director buying If oversold, why are directors not picking up more shares? Or are they in a closed period?

Thedarkkn1ght 11 May 2017

Oversold/all time low SP .

This stock reminds me why I normally avoid the retailers they are the only stocks I ever seem to lose money on. Not that I've realised any loses yet....but things not looking good for this retailer at the moment.

Re: Broker Positions Danske Bank reduces target from 160 to 145. Seems to have caused it to fall back.

Shotry 05 May 2017

Broker Positions My guess is the 160 target from Liberum is based on TA (162 was the low in Oct 2014) for the target and Brexit related pressure on domestic retail for the impetus to push it down. 176.5-177.5 and 173 are other potential TA target. Price does have a tendency to find these TA levels, but timing is the key. It could rise first. Preliminary Financial results due May 25th. If they don't meet expectations, that could cause the drop to 162. If they meet or exceed, then 162 may take a while. [link]
