Re: Probably a good thing I've completed some comprehensive reading and much has changed from when I used to be invested here with JN in charge. In my opinion the share price could have been 30-40% higher but for the risky under ground operations having an history of downtime raising the average cost of production on what are higher cost operations parts of the business in the first place being underground. At some points even loss making. In the mean time other successful miners HGM, FRES, Richmont Mines have increased production or/and driven down the average cost of production while PAF had had allot of downtime. But, if investors are happy to with these risks then there is an stronger investment case here than any other similar producer. The commodity price both platinum and gold are up this week. A rising gold price can play nicely into the share price of higher cost producers and PAF sit comfortably in the middle I suspect (though many will argue it is actually in or close to the lower quarter globally, its not among the gold miners I follow).Long term fundamentals are there for both growth and dividends, more so than any other gold miner I know. The dividend yield growth is also very attractive, no other gold miner I know offers such a good dividend. Based charting I have received this weekend shows a bottom of 13p looks likely and that does not make me happy as I like to time these things better, but hopefully the rising gold price will prevent this and this will be a nice 3 year investment.
Re: Probably a good thing I don't fully understand the political significant currently and will be researching this.I followed Fresnillo (as well as PAF) and was impressed with FRES increased silver and gold production and the stock outperformed PAF by a considerable margin. A real winner. At PAF I don't believe the BOD have done anything wrong over the past couple of years but perhaps they had been on the back foot when it came to aggressive growth and Eikhulu Tailings Project is excellent though we wont see it add to the bottom line until the end of next year.In the meantime however the gold price *could* rise given the current political leaders and Eikhulu will add to the investment case and forward earnings for 2017-2018.
Probably a good thing Unfortunately, I don't think the Zuma effect is helping the perception of SA based stocks. Also with a strong dollar, I guess Gold is knocked back as a perceived store of value. Though bullion prices are not that much off?So PAF is a genuine conundrum, as a pretty conservatively managed business, it seems to be pretty undervalued.
Re: Placing Apologies for my inconsiderate posts. I always known PAF for rights issues and a placing is a bit of blow for loyal PI's. The gold price and gold stocks are up.... yet there is a seller here.
Re: Placing "b) it was a placing - not an open offer of Rights issue "---OK, I missed the latest news. On-wards and erm upwards!
Re: Placing I am back in and will take up the placing at 14p.*****Surely you won't?:a) it was completed yesterday (by "accelerated book build"b) it was a placing - not an open offer of Rights issue
Re: Placing All-in sustaining cost of US$523 an ounce for more than 12 years for £100m at a rate of 50k.To me that is extremely good yet the market and everyone here remain muted.I am back in and will take up the placing at 14p.
Placing Didn't see that coming. I expect they can justify the dilution on an earnings accretive basis, assuming it all runs to plan.I expect the forward earnings will start to be understood at the end of 2017, but will likely be factored into upgraded earnings forecasts by analysts in the relatively near term.Problem is for the ordinary shareholder who don't get broker notes, its a bit hard to see what the net earnings benefit is at this stage
Re: Placing Well, that really is pricing in the political risk.Of course, the upside to that risk is reduced production costs in rand against the dollar denominated gold revenue.Thankfully, I am already out, but these discounted placings do knock the share price.

Re: coal sale Hi F - hope you are well, and all is OK? PAF doing OK, BUT I am not sure why the sale of the (dirty) coal mine has seen the SP stumble a bit. Lets hope Loot can bring us all the loot we deserve for taking on the risk of investing in PAF - thats a great name isnt it! Here's to better progress with PAF and gold - ATB t you and all holders - ARPS - let hope we can knife through resistance at 15.5p, and make more progress V soon!
Re: Dry RNS c - I seem to have missed your post, but thanks very much for your positive comments - PAF is being a bit frustrating and seems 'stuck' at the mo - its all probably down to golds lack of drive at this mo - Oh well! Lets hope for better times with PAF, and a break out to the upside! Meanwhile the frustration seems set to continue a while longer - .... ATB
