Re: good news not a pump That'd be nice, but we don't have a licence. Until the conditions are agreed we have a hole in the ground.
Another 60 days - up to 28th April So we have another 60 days to discuss and negotiate with the mining ministry to agree to the supplementary terms and conditions. Such negotiations can and probably will trigger extensions to this sixty day period. However, for now we need to wait until the 28th April it seems before having a mining licence granted and before ground can be broken to start operations. It beggars belief to be honest that it can and will take so long. This is an excellent opportunity with excellent prospects, which it seems to me is being run by people who want to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory.
good news not a pump As a long standing shareholder with a large holding at a much higher average than the current share price I am surprised at the negative comments. At last we have the license and as expected there are always some conditions. However we have the proven assets with a further drilling update soon which may well increase the resources we should be ready to go.Also we have a market capitalisation of just over 2 million compared with some AIm companies who have a hole in the ground in war torn countries. Also the directors have been investing large amounts at twice the current share price so I for one will be topping up if the price stays at this level on Monday
Was that a pump To let people out before the bad news emerges ?!
Supplementary terms and conditions. Nice to see the acceptance RNS tomorrow or today. We could even have a timescale on the conditions to be accepted. That way this would speed up the licence and finally give the shareholders a substantial rise!
Re: Read the note Strange isn't it....... We have watched this share tumble and tumble and despite asking for any information and reassurance over the years from the company got only silence. We have a week where the SP starts to crawl back, however feeble in reality compared to the price many of us have paid, and Voila, ........ Immediately an RNS noting the surging SP. with the predictable negative response. They really know how to work this don't they. Pathetic
Fools like us Afternoon. I was just wondering if you currently own any shares in North River?

Re: Read the note My feelings are that we may well be unfairly associated with past companies. The sale by Extract and Kalahari to China was not something the Namibians got anything from in a meaningful way. It was a Billion dollar sale.....We had a Chinese Chairman and were seen as part of that ( don't get me on to the current one )We had a deal/ JV with Extract to look for more Uranium. The new President wants to make it fairer for the disadvantaged, a laudable aim - except you need profit & Capital.Where the Namibians haven't been blind - is in the sometimes complex holding strategy ofPrivate Equity. An extract from the draft empowerment law, Remind anyone of anything?---------Draft wording."ownership" for purposes of economic empowerment means-(a) ownership or effective control of a private sector enterprise; or(b) the exercise of effective control over a legal person or trust having ownership or effective control of a private sector enterprise, and ownership or effective control of a private sector enterprise is deemed when a person- (i) owns or controls, directly or indirectly, including through trusts or bearer share holdings for any legal person, such percentage of the shares or voting rights of the enterprise as determined by the economic empowerment standards; or(ii) despite having less than the percentage shareholding or voting rights determined by the economic empowerment standards, receives a large percentage of the enterprises declared dividends; FoolsLikeUs.
Re: Read the note North River has sought written clarification from the Ministry on certain aspects of the supplementary conditions and its interpretation of them. The company is preparing to accept the notice before the expiration of the 30 days period on 27 February.---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- #---Agree with FluWhat are the clarifications the company has sought? What are the supplementary conditions and their interpretation? Preparing to accept is not accepting. I await with baited breath. Let's face it if the conditions are, "oh and by the way if you are profitable and find that your going to be successful then we the Government acting for the people will take ownership of 95% of the company " then quite rightly we as shareholders would want the board to seek clarifications etc before agreeing to it.
Re: Read the note Live and learn hopefully. Still a great entry price you must admit?
And read the New NEEEB National Equitable Economic Empowerment BillIn conjunction with assessing the Supplementary Conditions, the Company has been examining the implications of the Government of Namibia's proposed broad based empowerment legislation. A draft bill (the National Equitable Economic Empowerment Bill, the "Draft Bill" has been published and a period of public consultation is open until 29 April 2016. If enacted, the Draft Bill will set out obligations for companies, irrespective of sector, in respect of, inter alia, ownership and management participation by previously disadvantaged Namibians. Certain obligations under the Draft Bill are inconsistent with those laid down under the Supplementary Conditions to the Notice. The Draft Bill can be found on the website of the Office of the Prime Minister of Namibia (www.opm.gov.na/web/opm/neee-bill). The extent to which the Draft Bill would place obligations on the Namib Project and the timeframe for finalising and enacting the Draft Bill is not clear at this stage, but will undoubtedly be an area on which the Company will need further clarity in due course.
Re: Read the note Preparing to accept the notice is NOT " we are going to accept the conditions"This has dragged on for two years, it could have been sorted out 18 months ago IMHO Except a happy band of Corporate Lawyers decided they knew best. Worked well lads hasn't it?
Read the note North River Resources has noted the recent rise in its share price and issued an update to the announcement made on 1 February regarding progress towards a mining licence at Namib, its zinc-lead project in Namibia. As previously announced:- The Namibian Minerals (Prospecting and Mining) Act No.33 of 1992 requires that the Company submit a written acceptance of the Notice within 30 days (being 27 February 2016).- If no acceptance of the notice is filed, or the period for acceptance has not been extended, the application for a mining licence is deemed to have lapsed.- The notice contains a number of supplementary terms and conditions relating to matters including, inter alia, the work programme, production, environment and Namibian participation in the Project that will apply to the mining licence for Namib.North River has sought written clarification from the Ministry on certain aspects of the supplementary conditions and its interpretation of them.
