Huge trades today..... what's up do you think?
UHD sales now at 3 million per month. Take up far greater than anticipated. Running at 400% per year check out [link] Quantum dots will be a big part of this growth imo...
... Also here [link] So if the Chinese market is closing the door that only leaves Nanoco and Samsung able to produce Cad free and we're still not sure about Samsung's ability to scale production. They may even be using a more toxic version of indium etc...
Interesting that the Chinese are introducing a tighter Rohs standard based on the EU Rohs. The article in Chinese, you'll have to translate, says there will be a bloodbath for Qdot TV makers [link] Also here
Going back to Nano's webpage and the reasons to invest. They claim they are already supplying major OEMs. Note the plural. So we know about LG, who are the others? [link]
Interesting chat with Nanosys at SID. They're showing off their cadmium free dot TV's and refer to colour gamut etc. Seems they are significantly lower in colour production compared to the cadmium QD's. But what's important for Nano is production and scale as much as colour. [link]
But the grace period will begin to tick down soon enough. They will have to play to withdraw their product, or switch to a cadmium free option imo.
Don't see why there will be more dilution. We haven't had another placing? Interesting article here .[link] Interesting graph before showing QD UHD TV's going from 1 million in 2015 to 130 million plus by 2020. That's one big growth curve...
Thanks for the links Kuss, good work
More comments from SID from Nanoco. This time on cadmium [link]
Interesting graph for those worried about the OLED threat ... [link]
Out of the 250 million TV's sold each year only 500,000 are OLED. LG's US initial run for TV's is 500,000 surely times 5 to roll out across other major markets. So QDot already growing x5 just to LG. Got to be X20 if you include SUHD's and the other producers. And that's just in year 1 of the story. Seems Samsung is also talking about Qled. So OLED but with quantum dots as the emissive material. Next generation OLED if you like. Plus if you think Dow throw their money at anything just to see if it takes off is way wide of the mark imo.
oops link didn't work try [link]
I note Marl now have their QD lighting product up for sale 'Orion QD - Quantum Dot Linear Lighting' [link] But recall the Nanoco/Marl tie up goes back to 2011. It was only formally announced recently. Anyway, great to see this range coming to market. More to follow no doubt...
Counted about 25 jobs over the last 9 months on the Dow jobs page for their QD factory in Korea. Must be near $2 million in salaries alone. Nevermind the capital cost. Dow the only co. with a branded product ready to market, and with some of the best project managers in the world I'm confident they will meet their guidance on production etc.. This is not a share for the nervous disposition though. There again neither are the markets in general...
