Problem is no-one can make Qdots cheaply at this stage. We know Dow's production will be significantly cheaper than Runcorn production as that was mentioned in the recent prospectus. But how much cheaper? But there are the nonsense claims of QTM ... supplying the whole industry from a single continuous flow reactor. But there again they don't have a client yet.. And their recent development agreement didn't mention cadmium free Qdots, so they're stuffed just like the other cadmium producers imo...
That's all interesting but nothing new.Unless you can make qdots very cheaply it's no match to a process such as flexographic ( silkscreenIng process ) when it comes to speed and cost. ..unfortunately another qd company owns that IP process already.
And if there are substantial contracts? Nav is bollocks in the
Interesting development here with Dow involved. The mistake is to assume everyone else is catching up and Dow is staying still. Dow, Nanoco probably making huge strides with next generation Qdot's and manufacturing approaches..[link]
Global production capability is more than a ton at the moment.Nanosys at 25 tons concentrate which is about 10% qd content or 2.5 tons cdse qd.QDV unknown but are making enough for their own edge lit product.QMC at 2500kg capability and Nanoco Runcorn facility at 50Kg capability.Either way the forecast for materials will increase as more products enter the mainstream markets it just comes down to what piece of the market each player will get. That will be determined over the month's and years ahead IMO.
Easy to be negative, but in the real world, Dow's factory weeks away from production and Qdots starting to appear across multiple industries. 71 tonnes needed in 4 years. Global production less than a tonne at the moment. Seems a reasonable bet to me. The financial mets only care about cash generation and its sustainability. Also got 7% short position to close. Hope there's enough to buy at this level ...
The big institutional investors are neither selling nor buying. Sometime in the next month or so there will be an announcement ' Dow factory in commercial production for multiple clients' That's the bet...
