Re: Bad news and Good Well they've sold the bird food division and aptly enough they got peanuts for it. I think we'll get more than 5p a share back personally but don't see too much upside from here.I think i'll hang on for the end game but this has not been one of my better investments.
Re: Bad news and Good There is very little hope here. Nobody seems to have a hand on the controls in other words nobody cares. Were they to sell of the subsiduaries there would be little left and then the need to wind up the company or hope it can be used as a shell. Too much internal bickering and no focus means that there is little hope of anything more than 5p a share.
Bad news and Good Well the interims were snuck out on Friday and frankly they were pretty poor. They now only have £700k cash and made a large loss. But on the plus side they are going to sell the two operating businesses which are both profitable and cash generative.I think this is likely to return 20p a share so I won't be selling at these depressed levels. Also it seems like they are not expecting any more exceptionals so hopefully the second half will be better. With a bit of luck we'll all be out of this by this time next year.
Re: News? This is a shambles for a plc. Liquidate and divi out.
Re: News? Well I hope you stayed in and reaped the rewards Jacko. Wish I had a few too!
News? Will there ever be news on the sale of their two operating businesses I wonder? Are they having trouble selling them for an acceptable price?I'm not as confident of making a profit on these as I was when I bought in.
News? I wonder when there'll be news on the disposal of their two operating businesses. It's been some time since they announced that they wanted to sell them and both of them appear to be performing quite strongly at the moment so there may still be some upside to the price if they are sold.
Worth a punt With the improved profitability in both of their companies there has to be a reasonable chance of some upside from here in a trade sale of the companies. At least the current cash provides a floor for the price. The major risk as I see it is that they decided to delist the shares to save cash but hopefully that won't happen.
Interims An improving trend but I still feel it's primed for a RTO possibly this coming year.
Cap Reduction It appears to me that MBL is tidying up its Balance Sheet and getting ready for a sale. Its possible this is being done at the request of a potential RTO candidate and perhaps the 14% shareholder is involved. Assets worth twice the sp
Re: Potential The contents of MBL could be taken private to leave a clean retail shell for Cowgill. There are very few trades and the cost of a listing a business to sell bird seed seems hard to justify IMO
Potential Anyone see any potential here? Massive name in the chair with a substantial holding.
Future I wonder what the future is here. I cannot believe it depends on flogging bird seed and fish over the Internet. Anyone any thoughts?
Interest A bit of interest this morning and I think the Cowgill purchase could prove significant. Its quite a large stake, other large shareholders may be getting restless and the ex Chairman could win them over to enable the business to go forward. There is a mish mash of non profit making businesses in the group which could be sold to management, there is substantial cash and overall assets are about 4 times the SP. Cowgill will have an agenda for his near 15% stake so I think we can expect corporate activity in the coming months. Little liquidity in the shares so any positive news could provoke a useful gain.
