So, plenty more upside due here for MER, although seems to be a slow burner compared to CTH. This latest trading statement is v positive and I'm still predicting 550 in 2017. Decent dividend.
Caretech doubles profit CareTech (CTH.L ) who operate in similar markets to MEARS have issued great results today. Their SP up 31% this year , up 286% in 5 years. Re: Don't Panic! Then it hit 510 at 9.30am - a 52 week High. This should generate new interest. Keep hold of your winners ... Mears heading to 550
Don't Panic! Most of today's share price drop was as a result of going "Ex-div" this morning - 3.3p

Osborne's Spending Review Osborne's Spending Review today - councils allowed to raise council tax by 2% if it's spent on social care. It's pretty certain most councils will do this ... good news for Mears. TP 500 by end of year.
Re: Why the rise? No idea about the recent improvement. Hit 460 this morning before retracing to 445. Illiquidity in MER will always cause large jumps but over the year MER has trended between 380 and 470 and the yield is quite decent. They survived the summer meltdown which seemed to affect nearly everybody else and the momentum is on the up now. I think an ageing population and govt policy favouring care in the home will be good news for MER and I will be sticking with this solid company for the foreseeable future. Very positive guidance from the company and an average broker rating of hold and TP of 462. All good signs and I expect MER to revisit 470 again by end of year and a significant breakout well above 500.
Why the rise? Ok yesterday was a breakout and today it continues. Mears is suddenly showing strength not seen for many months. But why? No rerating has been issued or RNS so somewhat mystified.
