Re: COME ON MARSTON'S!! TradingupHave bought the same at TSCO.Great buy though it is it is hard to believe it does anything for the share price or profitability of TSCO or MARS.Thankfully sold out TSCO back in 2013 at 362.5Deep

COME ON MARSTON'S!! Good to see lots of support from the touchline - pity the sp continues to sag.I'm doing my best to help by regular stocking up of excellent Bank's Amber Ale beingknocked out at 90p a bottle by Tesco as opposed to £1.80 for similar products. Good leadership and they seem to be doing all the right things so here's hoping for an sprecovery in the not too distant future!

Barclays Capital today reaffirms its underweight investment Barclays Capital today reaffirms its underweight investment rating on Marston's PLC (LON:MARS) and set its price target at 115p. I say "Time will tell" but would personally agree with others on this discussion board that the MARS share price will eventually recover, they have distinctive sought after (by me and many others) drinking products and in fact have taken over the bottling of our local Hook Norton bottled beers. (which are also excellent)

Re: MARSTON'S PLC TRADING UPDATE 42 we... I think with this one we need to look through the seasonal variations and concentrate much more on the direction of travel. Small pubs are being reduced and new build pub restaurants are being developed. The brewing business continues to be successful. Patience is required. My hunch is that this one will come good.Cheers F

Re: Bought Stonka, don't forget to ask for your 20% discount card from your broker.

Re: MARSTON'S PLC TRADING UPDATE 42 we... TX2 has hit it on the head. The institutional purchasers bought in the mid-130s, so that is what this company is worth (137 less the dividend immediately received!). The nature of the business means capital growth is unlikely. We will see constant dilution as the business is capital intensive. But the dividend remains attractive. I am down here too, and will not average down until some VERY good news emerges. 5% is some compensation though.

Bought HelloMy first post on this board. After 40 years of being a purveyor of Marstons goods and watching the shares for some time I have put my money where my drink is.Purchased a 117.7 so hopefull there will be some upside soon. Like others I find the 6% divi a significant attraction and at a cost approaching the year low I couldn't resist,Hopefully the weather will now improve, unfortunately its still raining,CheersStonks

Re: MARSTON'S PLC TRADING UPDATE 42 we... Dgregor, I too am down over 16% (5.7%AER) having bought at 152.2 in September 2014. However I recoup some my losses by using my 20% Marstons discount card for a meal and drink every week when I go to my local pub quiz.

Re: MARSTON'S PLC TRADING UPDATE 42 we... Institutional investors paid 137p per share in the £78 million placing in mid May to finance the Wells Brewing purchase;so I don't think the fall in share price was widely anticipated!!!!

Re: MARSTON'S PLC TRADING UPDATE 42 we... The market hates expressions such as "operating margins are slightly below last year" and "we remain encouraged" - they'll need higher margins to serve their debt if interest rates go up.

Re: MARSTON'S PLC TRADING UPDATE 42 we... Hi DregorYou and me both!We must have bought into Marstons at around the same time as I'm also about 16% down. Not one of my best recent investments - bought mostly for the divi, not capital gain.Time will tell - hopefully this little baby should turn around. It's still got a lot going for it based on the latest trading update. Obviously, Mr Market doesn't agree! However, at the moment I'm not inclined to top up and average down.

Re: MARSTON'S PLC TRADING UPDATE 42 we... Deepsleeves,I am ,of course, aware that I will not incur a capital loss at this time. I was merely pointing out by how much I was under water at this particular time.I will continue to hold and hope for better times.
