Re: First purchase I'm quite sure that CNKS is a cyclical stock and therefore risky. But the incredibly low P/E and strong balance sheet has encouraged me to take the risk. It has, for instance, just bought back 7% of it's shares out of spare cash.Manx is kind of the opposite; it's moderately highly geared and it occupies a franchise rather than owning it's business outright. The P&L should be pretty safe as long as it retains the franchise. I should have bought more originally, now the price is a little high. But I do like it. Were it to lose the franchise, the shares would collapse.
MIDAS SHARE TIPS UPDATE [link]
Onward and Upwards £2 safely passed despite going ex div this week. This share continues to deliver, seemingly untroubled by world events. I am confident it will continue to do so.CheersBob
Re: First purchase Hi Greyinvestor and welcome aboard. As a cautious dividend seeker, I really like this share. It is not linked to China, Banks or oil and appears largely unaffected by dramatic market movements.I am therefore intrigued by your enthusiasm for CNKS. I really like the divi, but would that share not plummet in the event of a stock market collapse? Apologies for using this board in connection with a different share.CheersBob

Re: GR8 Yield and Prospects (Fincl. Mail... The latest trading statement looks OK to me. ´ConnectMann´has been renewed for the next five years. VDSL Plus has been launched and should do well and 4G is now available for pay as you go customers.I live in Jersey where Jersey Telecoms have recently faced competition from other providers. This competition has merely woken them up a bit and made them more efficient. I remain committed to this share which I bought initially in April last year and topped up in October. So far so good. I am a dividend seeker and the more than useful capital gain is a big bonus for me.CheersBob
Re: GR8 Yield and Prospects (Fincl. Mail... Thanks Manxman good helpful insight
Re: GR8 Yield and Prospects (Fincl. Mail... I'd disagree about the hold they have on the market here. The competition are providing better deals. Last year I moved my broadband to Sure for this reason. In addition my contract for the mobile is now up with MT and upon looking around I compared deals. In summary I can get better terms for the same money at Sure, along with a 30% reduction in my existing broadband cost if I move contract. In addition i'll take the Galaxy s5 mini for £25 which is £90 at MT. The MT contract would be £1 a month cheaper (£24) but the terms provided (especially Data where they rob you) is much worse.Sure will also provide your landline calls (to UK and IOM) free of charge (up to 60 minutes per call so you would just ring off and redial) as well. So that is moving.Aside of Sure other providers are eating in to their space, both personal and business. On the plus side the general demand for technology may continue to drive forward their income but as a listed entity it simply isn't enough to move forward marginally.
Re: GR8 Yield and Prospects (Fincl. Mail... Looks like the doomy predictions were wrong , they have a good hold on the market and early entry advantage always prevails added to which a predicted concentration in the sector makes this a sound buy .
