Re: results Three good posts this morning . It is clear that the results are very disappointing. Perhaps the drift in the sp should have forewarned us. From experience with other companies where orders come along in lumps, there is the familiar refrain of jam to-morrow. This is not helped by the confusion over firms orders received, orders about to be confirmed, orders that are expected and orders that are hoped for. It is clear that the interim results will be fairly torrid. The pension liability adjustments are also a worry. However, all is not lost. At the operating level, 2014 was on a par with 2013 and it would seem that there is a reasonable likelihood of a big improvement in the second half and thereafter. Hopefully that could translate into substantial profits as the gearing effect of utilising the factory space should be considerable. In the meantime, the level of activity may not adequately cover the new factory costs. I do agree that LPA should be part of a larger organisation for the longer term. Niggling points -why does it take so long foe the results to be reported and their website does not appear to have been updated. I would not sell at the current sp but I would not buy any more until there is clear evidence that the anticipated level of business has actually been achieved.
Re: Results I think you are wrong to exit as its tough to buy back in.I have just started buying again as there are a few about today.Firstly I do not like the way the statement is laid out.Its too confusing with "orders" clouding the picture v sales ( which is the only info we need). However don't be fooled by EPS of 2.5p.They were about 6p.You as well as I know that Excp items are used to reduce tax and in this case they have not even been used yet. They are forecasting that they will be needed in the current year and have made the allowance early. We have no tax to pay again.I remain of the opinion that the company will make a million this current year for EPS of about 10p.if that's met then the shares are not expensive.Unlike you I see the short term weakness as a great chance to further build my stake. I certainly want to remain under the 3% threshold but I am happy to get right up there.I think the BOD could do with a shake up or someone sniffing round if we are to get the very best from LPA in the coming years.Tiger
Results Pretty shocked first thing and got out as quick as possible.I'm surprised it hasn't fallen further, and expect it to drift down over coming months.I'd want 50p to consider buying back, as at 2.5p eps its trading at current PER of 30. Way too rich for this company. Whilst future prospects may be good, that's a while down the road and the next interims don't look too promising based on outlook statement. I suspect these will either be much cheaper 3 months from now, or if they stay at current levels, but won't move much when the first signs of increased trading comes along. As such being out for now seems the sensible play. Which allows one to either wait for a proper pull back or any good news.Shame it's been a good run with these from 49p. Hopefully I'll get another go at that price.LFG
Re: New Investor It won't be Clacton for much longer!!Disappointing announcement due to poor sales in the first quarter. Really this company shouldn't be independent. It should be part of a company like Federal Signal (who own Victor in the North East) so that fluctuations in sales from quarter to quarter don't matter so much.
Re: New Investor local ??Is that to which part of the company.tiger
Re: Couple of small lumps there is the extra payment to come that was triggered. 1.4 million?Tiger
New Investor Current price looks a good opportunity to get in here. This is a local firm for me and I like to support local businesses. This board seems fairly quiet which would certainly suggest that the company is off the radar for most investors. Lets hope the company can progress and encourage other investors to come on board.
Couple of small lumps You are setting a fine example Tiger which I wish that others would follow!! Preliminary results due later in the month, though not sure why it takes nearly four months after the year end to produce these. With turnover unlikely to have increased by much and various reorganisation costs, I suspect the pbt figure will be subdued.
COUPLE OF SMALL LUMPS Available this morning so grabbed them.Tiger
Re: Strong Buy Sounds good to me !!! Tigers right very small market in these shares
Strong Buy Another one to watch this year - buy and tuck away at this level. Well capitalised in sector where they can make some progress. It is a tiddler with little following - share will move fast when interest appears.
hard work buying However small amounts every day and building up.Bought what was available again.Tiger
Positive news from East Coast franchise To-day's award to Stagecoach/Virgin at least provides some momentum to the Hitachi contract for LPA and although nothing new, is at least positive.
