Re: Tronox Still a ridiculous spread on this one, but of course, you can always get a much better deal if you are patient.[link] interesting article on Tronox. There is still the overhang of lender shares that will soon be "unlocked", otherwise I would have put a "Strong buy" on this. GLA
Re: Tronox jeepers this thing is untradeable...TROX much better
Re: Ilmenite prices Most recent news from Ruidow, with prices of titanium slag up by close to 5% more.[link] I am keenly awaiting the Q4 Moma update, and then 2016 sales figures.
Re: Tronox Lucullus,If you are referring to KMR, sometimes the spreads narrow to a reasonable level for parts of the day. However, at the start of the day in particular the spreads are too high. I guess that too many of the shares are held too tightly. That could change very soon if the EIB decides to reduce or sell all after the end of its lock-in.
Re: Tronox Does this thing always trade with such a huge spread or is it because first thing in morning
Re: Tronox TROX up huge today after bearish put flow yesterday...go figure....7% and huge call buying...maybe get a move here tomorrow
Tronox Tronox are large large US based producer of titanium oxide. They bounced recently on the china news but I have noticed quite a few large put trades in TROX. The trades are in 10 puts mostly, currently trading at 11.13
Re: Ilmenite prices As per Ruidow, prices are up again:[link] very prosperous New Year to you all!!
LSE- Contract pricing Go back to almost all interim & full year financial statements since the start of Phase I production, and you are likely to read that a substantial volume of sales are made under short to medium term contracts. At the start, that actually meant multi-year contracts with largely fixed sales prices fixed. That was required for lenders to provide the finance to get the play in the sandpit started. That lasted at least in part till 2011, when KMR failed to reap the benefits of booming prices. Since then, my read is that for 6 month contracts, the majority, volumes are contracted at a fixed price, while for 12 month contracts, the volume is defined, while the price is fixed for 6 months, then subject to a market based price refix. I could be wrong, as always.
Re: China TiO2 imports Indy,Good to hear from you, and trusting that you are in fine fettle for 2017.Certainly there is potential for more mineral sand production in Mozambique. Personally I do not see you old "favourite" PFP ever getting there as a stand alone outfit, unless prices go completely mad, while for Savannah, it could be possible in perhaps 3 to 4 years.Given current sales price trends, Kenmare needs to make and retain a lot of hay over the next few years, as too much of a price increase will surely see competing producers getting into the act, and resulting in a subsequent price crash. In my view it is unlikely that the ilmenite market will be flooded with new supplies before perhaps 2020, given the lead times for such projects. However, a significant increase in iron ore prices could see a significant increase in ilmenite product where it is a by product, for example in China. I do not see much risk of that heppening even if the Strumpf does produce an American economic miracle, as the big iron ore miners have plenty of scope to ramp up production of cheap supplies.
Re: China TiO2 imports Wishing all a healthy, interesting 2017 with peace of mind. DD,"Does anyone know of another producer in the country?"About three years ago someone like Drill or Gold or Silver who are in to this sort of thing posted a link about a planned massive mineral resources survey of Mozambique where specific mention was made of mineral sands. It was to be funded by one of the world's financial institutions. I'm not certain but I think it was the World Bank. A heavy weight like that whether renowned or not would surely have done it's research including current sites whether operational or not and I would have thought it would be in the public arena for anyone determined enough to find it which excludes me. If you meant China then the aforementioned Institution would surely have researched that too. Still, I accept my reply is more of a Mission Brief than an answer. Go well but I won't get involved in more than the occasional bit of skim reading on BBs bar one these days. Indy
Year end sp predections It looks as though my 350p+ for 2016 will be way off target, while my 450p+ for 2017 may be overshot by a fair bit more than 2016 comes short. Once the lender shares have been sold down from January 2017, given recent pricing data and volume indications, 2017 could produce a rollercoaster ride.If the lenders do not sell much in January. that will store up uncertainty for the future, while also adding to upward sp expectations. A happy and very prosperous New Year to you all.
China TiO2 imports 90.22% yoy growth in Chinese TiO2 imports (ilmenite and concentrates) in November 2016, with 76,809.17 lonnes from Mozambique. Does anyone know of another producer in the country?[link] to be a record quarter for shipments. GLA
Re: Seasons Greetings Wishing everyone a merry Christmas and a happy & very prosperous New Year. Not long now till the Moma Q4 update will come, and I am hoping to see positive guidance and why not a bit fuller disclosure of: cash on hand & debt, estimated $ revenues, current selling prices (including ilmenite sold in advance?), smooth running of production and enhance zircon & rutile recoveries, etc.OK, I am not too confident about seeing all of those in the update, but I am confident wrt to good claret, vintage port & champagne for Christmas and New Year, and a steadily increasing sp as the quaters roll on.
