Re: Preliminary Results Yes I think you are right B. The hard work has been done and this has taken Rakesh and his colleagues a long time, negotiating some very difficult financial challenges. But it now seems as if KLN is in a position to capitalise on a much firmer foundation and benefit from a sector which I believe is still to perform. The interims will be of particular interest as these will tell if the group is not only sustaining, but building on the progress it has made during the past four years or so. Cost have come down but there is a limit to how much cost you can take out of a business before more savings become detrimental. Then its about increasing revenues and allowing the operational gearing to drive EPS.
Preliminary Results I now see today's announced figures are Preliminary ahead of the Final results normally released later next month or even early May.This is a welcome development and gives shareholders much needed information ahead of the more detailed Finals. Hopefully more expansive comment on Post Year end events can also be incorporated into say the Chairman's statement as well as a better 'look ahead'. It will help immeasurably.Today's share transactions are already chunky by K's standard and are almost exclusively sales. The nature of these transactions suggest it's long term holders so whilst initially this might not appear positive, it actually is. It will improve liquidity at least a little and permit new investors to recognise the improvement in Group performance now evident and buy in.After all some legacy holders will simply want some cash after holding through the harder times but if Rakesh and the BoD can conduct some presentational view of the way ahead for the Group incorporating some key (but outline) performance hurdles etc it should assist wider investor appetite.K have done (and are doing) the hard bit. Now it's time to get the story out as widely and as far as possible. B
Results B - My briefest of look at the figures suggest a very positive H2 which has delivered across all areas. If as you say this momentum has carried forward into the current financial year, this really should be propelling K into an entirely different perspective for investors.Quite why this hasn't already happened I think is simply down to how the Group interface with its Private shareholders. Improve this and the SP should move markedly upwards. This would improve not only the liquidity of the shares but assist everything from future borrowing costs to becoming a more reliable component to any structured acquisition. If AIM ever made any sense this share should move substantially upward (and that is not a ramp but simple reflection of fundamentals). 2p at least should be achievable particularly if we get some outline on where the Group are headed (haven't yet had the chance to see if any Chairman comments cover this etc.).M - I hope you are correct with the positive Results increasing the appeal to a wider audience; it certainly makes sense.B
Re: Results Good to read the justifiably positive tone in these results, today.[link] to now start attracting a wider audience.m
Results What do you think B.? Excellent second half and the current year has started well. I feel this set of figures should push the SP up to the 2p level and with continued progress at the half way further earnings and SP progress can be expected.
Re: SP I agree that organic growth will be difficult, and although they have the back office capacity to cope with an added workforce it will need funding so an acquisition or RTO could be a possibility. New paper could also be issued for cash to assist with working capital. Liquidity is also a problem if new investors are to be encouraged and I am not sure if I am happy with the major shareholder who has had close working relationships with the new Chairman. The former chairman is a large holder as is the former co chairman who has recently bought in again. The FD I has his finger on the pulse IMO and hs done much in stabilising the business.I think the coming results and forecast for the future should be an important indicater of where the group is heading. On balance and with the foundation almost complete I feel prospects are now much better than they have been for the last 5 years or so.
Re: SP If I'm honest B, I am beginning to become altogether a bit perplexed by this sector (or perhaps more accurately KLN and NBB in particular).I know from past discussions that KLN are understandably keen to demonstrate their recovery and prove these by consistent Audited Accounts and I recall that a fall to around current SP levels was not entirely unexpected through time.Having said all that, while we are expecting this turnaround to be cemented in the forthcoming FY results expected late April/early May, we are guessing somewhat given the absence of even the briefest of updates on current performance.Provided the Group maintains its past progress, we really should see the SP higher than its current levels but the lack of liquidity has proved a double edged sword in the past with modest sales knocking out most of the gains in SP with a bit too much ease for my liking. The price today should be a good point of entry for new investors (or top ups) and we could well see a spike once again if the news on performance has a positive story to it. Hopefully if it is to occur it won't be as short lived as the last one!Hopefully when the figures are released, we can also get some kind of vision of where the Group is headed. It will almost certainly be a M or A as organic growth can only be taken so far. That of course raises the question of funding and may have to be undertaken in tandem with some form of Capital restructure. In conclusion I think KLN does offer considerable potential for an investment at this SP but I would concede that I had hoped it would have retained some of its past gains better than it has to date.B
SP What do you think B? A little weakness in the SP ahead of figures next month which should reflect positive trading and benefits resulting from the closed offices. Market not very liquid and any positive numbers and update should make the MMs push the SP well up. So is KLN an attractive buy within the sector?
Re: SP Price Movement I find it strange that we can go weeks will little activity then in one day over 2m traded in several trades.
SP Price Movement Catching up after a couple of days away, I agree that given the lack of liquidity in this share, there does appear to be something on the go.Don't disagree B that we could and perhaps really should be closer to the 2p mark by the time the FY figures are released. We are of course hoping that the various economies still being undertaken by the Group more than offset any sectoral/geographical weakness in the UK that is being reported by other players (not just the majors). However, unless there is some significant (and hopefully very positive) news, we mIght just see some longer term holders selling into any meaningful rise in SP as we witnessed around the H1 reporting. I hope not though.B
Re: Update Something is going on - much more interest than usual
Re: Update Good to see some buying - not sure if we will get an update now but results should be out end of March and should be good in my view. Loss making operations out of the way, sector picking up and KLN continues to recover. Could see 2p ahead of figures. Any thoughts B?
Re: Update Agree on update position.Good to hear your other positive news. They certainly are very keen to build on their recovery to date so the possibility of say an acquisition may be delayed until they can support a better view of their recovery by a strong set of results for the full year.B
Re: Update It looks as though the update last year came with the Loan Note news so we may not hear anything. I understand that KLN continues to recover and the second half will not be clouded by losses from the Midland operation.
Update Last year's update on Trading issued on 13 Jan 15 clearly wasn't meant to set any kind of precedent given the lack of any RNS this year.A tad disappointing given the paucity of financial information generally available to PI's. Bowood - Your sources are clearly better than mine so let's hope your right on the year's performance which would make the wait (until Aud Accounts are released in April) worthwhile.B
