Re: O/T kooiker Thanks for the good wishes - I would reciprocate but you already seem to have turned your losses around yourself. I agree about the hedge funds, we live and learn ! Let's hope for another Dana or Dragon.Good luck with all your investments Kooiker

O/T kooiker Thanks for the support, kookier - it's good to know at least one person finds some of what I write worthwhile. Hope you're in good spirits and have got over your losses in what turned out to be a real can of worms (XEL). If it's any consolation I lost a lot more than you did on my 'investment' in that particular dog. Like many others I found it hard to see how borrowings of around 7% of the independently assessed value of the predominantly P1 oil in Bentley could end up bringing the whole thing down but live and learn - Wherever I see hedge funds involved in future I'll run a mile. I was 95% down on my holding in TRAP but liked the new team behind JOG and decided to add significantly in the initial fundraise and subsequently, mostly when the shares were trading at between 8p and 20p, so I've now got a very good average. I added again recently after selling some when there was all the excitement and added to my SQZ holding. For once fate seemed to smile on me but it isn't over until it's over and I'm not counting any chickens - seems to me SQZ still has a long way to go - as imo does JOG but I've been wrong before. Hope I'm right this time or I'll feel like a right Charlie. At one point in early 2016 I worked out that JOG was valued by the market at about the same as my house which, whilst comfortable, is not a mansion!! I couldn't see at the time why the very low oil price should be regarded as bad for JOG, which was looking to acquire distressed assets at the time (it still is) so I switched out of a few other holdings and used up some scarce cash to buy as many as I sensibly could. Finding Licence P2170 in a drawer (I exaggerate) could not have been predicted. It was a game changer and it is still likely to provide a few surprises - hopefully pleasant ones.My children and grandchildren will probably end up with the spoils as you can't take it with you and my clock is ticking.Good luck to you and yourseagle

Re: JOG - Exploration Company Apologies for not responding earlier, admiralty. Nothing much ever happens on here and I haven't looked in for a while.I don't think it was intended that JOG should turn into an explorer. The simple fact seems to be that they haven't been able to nail down a production deal so far, for whatever reason, but I still expect this to happen. In the meantime, the P2170 licence, particularly Verbier, has turned out to be very valuable and my take is that JOG has decided there's too much unevaluated upside to consider selling their 18% interest until it has been fully appraised. It would surprise me if there is any intention of taking it much past the 'fully appraised' stage because that would effectively make JOG's future dependent on Statoil, the operator. Plus, the money JOG would have to raise on the asset to take it to production, in amount and timescale determined by Statoil, would make anything beyond full appraisal singularly unattractive - to me anyway. One of JOG's two key directors, Ron Lansdell, is in his late 60s and is the biggest individual shareholder. I have no means of knowing , but it seems possible he has a lot of his wealth tied up in JOG. Why would he want to wait until he's well into his 70s to see value unlocked in useable form? To me, the most likely scenario is that we'll soon see one or two small additions of non-operated interests in NS fields which will produce some net cash flow. Thereafter the timescale seems to be to get Verbier fully appraised by the end of Q3, maybe Q4, 2018 and see where it goes from there. I'm hoping the find is at the top end of estimates and that the third partner (CIECO - a big Japanese outfit that seems happy to wait for longer term returns) will be interested in adding JOG's 18% to its existing 12%. WDIK?I don't know if you saw this interview on 7 February? [link] keeping JOG's risk profile firmly in view as I have a sizeable holding (in my terms). At present the potential upside beats the reverse but things can sometimes change. I'm less confident than I was but still think the potential for significant reward is high. Thanks for the tip on DGOC. Apart from money invested long term in a few well-chosen managed funds, I now have only three direct holdings in the market (JOG, SQZ and a lesser amount in CLNR). When these have played out, or I otherwise decide to exit, that will be it for me. I'll add to property instead, not quite sure where. The markets are now too dishonest and there's no regulation. It will only get worse. GLall imo/dyor

Re: JOG - Exploration Company PS- if you want a true oil asset buyer on AIM who even pay a good dividend, head to DGOC. Been with them since the float and they have not put a foot wrong. DYOR etc.

JOG - Exploration Company Eagle, hope you are well. Some months ago you pulled me up for posting in a manner suggesting JOG was an exploration company rather than an asset buyer. As they have bought no assets or even a note suggesting there were some ongoing discussions, and as they money raised recently appears to have been earmarked for Verbier and the surrounds, we can now say that they are an Exp. company. Probably by chance, but there you go. Let's hope we now don't get years and years of drilling, testing, fund raising, more fund raising and general sideways movement as per most minnow oil Co's. Although I have done quite well here, my gut is now telling me that things might get more tricky and it might be time to take some profits and head elsewhere. It could be years before anything comes of Verbier.

Re: Decent rise The Oil Man still likes it and he has suggested a 5x share price or £10. From what he was saying it looks as if it will be in his this years Bucket List as well. Perhaps RBD as well.

Decent rise Is there some news imminent from Statoil. Decent volume and a 10pc rise!

Re: Open offer Thank you eagle .This pick no looking to bad now :- )Such a change from posters picking me up on grammar and spelling lolGreat fun pitting my wisdom against there better education.

Re: Open offer I am in for the longer term and for the benefit the recent fund raise will bring. I am sure the Oil Man will be adding wisdom to JOG in the coming weeks. I added a few yesterday and will add further later today or the first trading day of the New Year. Any positive news will push the sp much higher as there is little free float - but of course you need to be invested to benefit or simply miss out.

Re: Open offer "I wonder what the institutions view on this is".............................probably the same as when they bought (respectively) 10% and 7% of the shares (in the case of Schroeders and L&G). I dare say their research (combined with what they were advised by JOG when they were 'doing the rounds' of the institutions was professional and thorough. More institutions will have bought to a level below the notifiable threshold of 3%. Is it not likely we (inc the institutions) would have heard by now if the discovery was non-commercial? It is now approaching 3 months since the discovery was made in the updip. You appear to have made up the 50/50 chance of Verbier being non-commercial, up protherics. No guidance has been provided since the sidetrack result. The original announcement on 9 October was worded as follows:"Preliminary analysis indicates:· The well has proven a hydrocarbon accumulation in good quality sands, up dip of the water bearing sands encountered in the initial well· Evaluation of the well results, together with the existing 3D seismic data is ongoing· Initial Operator estimates of gross recoverable resources associated with the Verbier discovery are between 25 and 130 million barrels of oil equivalent, with a minimum proven recoverable volume in the immediate vicinity of the wellbore of 25 million barrels of oil equivalent In addition to confirming the presence of oil in the Verbier prospect, this discovery provides valuable information to help better understand the prospectivity of the licence area, which includes the Cortina prospect and the Meribel lead. JOG holds an 18% working interest in the licence".The short term share price is determined by the actions of holders of precious few of the shares in issue. These might be called: the "don't know and don't understands" - traders who are in for a quick buck. A lot seem to move their money from one 'red-hot prospect' to another - a lot appear not to understand the difference (for instance) between JOG and UKOG or FRR. I doubt very much any of the significant holders have moved, except perhaps to add at what seems to them to be fundamentally low current price levels.I seem to recall JOG saying it was doing its own work on the well data, so it's possible a sale of JOG's 18% of Licence P2170 is being contemplated, given it has been stated on numerous occasions that JOG sees itself as a producer, not an explorer and the carry arrangements have now ended.I'll have a friendly wager your 240p looks a bit silly in a few months time - maybe earlier. I'm a natural optimist. jmofwiw - dyor

Re: Open offer Can you supply the info. where you got your 50/50 chance of field development from? Thanks

up protherics 27 Dec 2017

Re: Open offer I bought in this at an average of 2.40.In hind sight I would not have invested.Unfortunatly at the end of the day it appears that there is only a 50/50 chance that the field will be taken forward. The limited down side should see the price fall no further than a £1 due to cash now raised INMO.If the field is viable maybe they could sell out to an existing NSea operator. In summary a very difficult situation to be in.. So hoping for some type of deal to take this above the £ 2 level.I wonder what the institutions view on this is.

BOWOOD 20 Dec 2017

Buying Seems to be a fair bit of positive interest in the stock today - could be positive news on its way.
