Re: Rival bidder ruled out Well I rather thought that would be the case. Lets hope we can get on with getting our 182p ASAP.All parties have had months to weigh up the options and Apple clearly have had what they want from IMG and will continue to get anything they want from them in the future, if you know what I mean regardless of who owns them Don't forget that MIPS has been a complete waste of money for IMG bought for $100m in 2007 since when huge amounts of money have been, well lets be generous, 'spent' on development. The market valuation after all that reflects the true value of the business which is just $65m: A catastrophic business loss. It really is time for the techie's to recognise that regardless of their obsession with its technology and how important it will be in future this simply is not reflected in the sale price, those holding the purse strings simply don't agree with them and well, who knows best?. Business is business and this was a disastrous investment. So lets look to the future, when I get my money, whats hot out there to provide an investment and a home for 'Imagineers' to argue about!AIMHO

Rival bidder ruled out Imagination Technologies Sale to Canyon Bridge in the Clear as Rival Fund Ruled Out Imagination Technologies, the British chip designer selling itself to a China-backed buyout fund, said on Wednesday another potential buyer had ruled itself out, removing a potential hurdle to the GBP 550 million ($737 million) deal. The sale to Canyon Bridge Capital Partners, announced on Friday, is contingent on Imagination offloading its MIPS processor technology in a separate $65 million deal to Tallwood Venture Capital.Imagination said the MIPS sale could now go ahead without a shareholder vote after the unnamed third-party was no longer involved in the wider sale process."Imagination has now received confirmation that the relevant party is no longer actively considering making an offer for Imagination," the company said."Accordingly, the sale of MIPS does not require shareholder approval."Imagination put itself up for sale after Apple, its biggest customer, said it was developing its own graphics and video processing technology, sending shares in the British company down 70 percent.SEE:[link]

Apple guilty of global IP poaching? Apple stand accused of using unethical business practice that amounts to asset stripping by poaching employees from competitors and suppliers. Thanks to Caddie who posted original link that doesn't work now. Here is a working link:-[link]

Re: Apple may have access to anything IMG develop in future by poaching staff and leaking. Industrial espionage if you will. It seems to me it is rather hard to keep IP development secret given the fluid movement of skilled people. Apple can always pay top dollar, yes?China could well be funding the development blocks of Apples products well into the future and all for a repetitively small, insignificant fine or two in the context of Apples wealth. Why pay to develop IP when you can obtain it by the back door, hasn't Apple been rather good at this in the past? Haven't they settled actions and paid the price for infringing patents before? Yes and you can bet the fines when you add them all up have been worth paying given the 'leg up' this has given them.Only thought and..........AIMHO

Re: I can't see the british government getting involved. a) they have already been consulted and given assurances b) as you rightly point out we are trying to attract an influx of chinese money especially post brexit c) if the sale to china is blocked, another US company will then buy it at a knock down price, steal the technology and close down all the UK jobs.Frankly I would rather trust china than the US on this one

techno fox ARM ready to swoop on Imagination if Chinese takeover blockedseriously, ring ring who is there it, is the Chinese embassy for Mrs May, its the Chinese Ambassador on the phone PM, dear Mrs May one of our companies is looking to invest in the UK buy buying a small company called IMG, Their have been some rather stupid stories that you might bethinking of blocking such a bid, however we think such a move might put at risk the billions we have already promised in inward investment to the UK like HS2 and the huge new Nuclear power stations, are you sure you want to put our relationship and past deals at such risk? Both Apple and Arm might well be looking to step in and pick up the pieces of any blocked bid, however given the Chinese have so much leverage over the UK Government, read my lips is not ever going to happen, no way.they either have to bid or step away from the table, both realising they have made the biggest strategic error in business history, not since Jerold Ratner called the stuff he was sell in his shops as cra# has such a huge mistake been made by the big US it companies, or Nokia when they decided that the smartphone revolution was just a fad and it would not last?history will prove me correct over time,

Tech Slide! Tech Slides on Valuation Concerns -- Tech RoundupShares of tech companies fell sharply as valuation concerns caused a retreat from this year's leading sector.Shares of Apple declined and are now down roughly 9% from their peak ahead of the new iPhone launch. "It's a case of a 'poisoned Apple' dragging down the whole sector," said Scott Clemons, chief investment strategist at Brown Brothers Harriman. "It's increasingly difficult for reality to match the hype of the new iPhone model, in this case, but tech models in general." The relatively small proportion of recently activated phones that were part of the iPhone 8 line raised the stakes for sales of the premium iPhone X model, whose orders will start to ship in November.Ahead of data on the iPhone X, the recent retreat in Apple's shares is part of the "inevitable price volatility and anxiety in anticipation of a new product release," said Mr. Clemons.China-backed investment firm Canyon Bridge Capital Partners agreed to buy U.K.-based chip designer Imagination Technologies, a key Apple supplier, for about $742.2 million.Facebook shares fell sharply after several reports about fake Russian accounts on the social network used to shape debate about the U.S. election.Still, Mr. Clemons said lingering concerns about the valuation of Facebook and other "FAANG" stocks may have more to do with the selloff than the negative headlines. In addition to Apple and Facebook, Amazon.com, Netflix and Google parent Alphabet -- the other mega cap tech stocks that have led the bull market -- all retreated, with Netflix falling by more than 4%."One of the things that has worried me all year, and really going back to the summer of 2016 is how narrowly led this market has been," said Mr. Clemons. Such concentration "tends to make for more fragile market when sentiment turns."Article:[link]

Men Against Boys. Neural Network Morning, And still great products are coming out. Neural Networks now part of the mix. Heartening to see a bit of swagger from IMG. And a willingness to mock the competition. PowerVR Series2NX. [link] this [link] a smartphone manufacturer announced that its hardware used to enable face detection for unlocking the phone offered 600 billion operations per second. A single core of our initial PowerVR 2NX IP, running at a conservative 800MHz, can offer up to 2048 MACs/cycle (the industry standard performance indicator), meaning we can run over 3.2 trillion operations a second – twice our nearest competitor... it’s men against boys.". I assume this means 5 times faster than the "smartphone manufacturer" and 2 times faster than another rival. The former is of course Apple. [link] up to 600 billion operations per second"I doubt that Blog post would have been written like that a few months ago. So much potential with this company.
