Re: ReDenso Licence deal news So these royalties will not vanish overnight forcing IMG in to bankruptcy as one of the last posts implies. the previous post implied that imagination might be technically bankrupt. if banking covenants are breached, then it's 'technical' bankruptcy.bear in mind the company hasn't made a profit in the last 3 yearsthe company can't exist on it's own
Re: ReDenso Licence deal news techno fox I do not like misleading posts on this board, first your view that once apple royalties stop IMG will fall off a cliff and go bankrupt is not only misleading it is just not true their will be no cliff edge as your post implies, even if apple do stop using IMG Technology today, they would still be paying IMG for years to come, as apple will still be selling the older cheaper IPhone models which also includes the iwatch and Apple TV.So these royalties will not vanish overnight forcing IMG in to bankruptcy as one of the last posts implies.
Re: ReDenso Licence deal news Excellent news as ever from the tech development perspective and as those who have read my posts over the years will know, I'm a huge fan of the portfolio of innovative products developed. One slight problem, IMG are technically bankrupt when Apple royalties cease. they will probably breach banking covenants so without a white night all this innovation may well be be up for grabs in a 'fire sale' of assets. Maybe Apple are playing blink, I don't know, only a few do and they are saying nothing. The leaky ship of the HY days has sailed away and we are left with withering speculation and conspiracy theories to keep this pot boiler going. You cannot run an effective PLC business if you fail to cover R&D costs by generating a surplus from sales to run the business and pay wages leaving a hefty surplus for ongoing development and a return on capital employed for investors I might be accused of being simplistic but in essence this is true. Endless posts on progress made ignoring the 'elephant in the room' mean nothing.IMG need a deal with someone otherwise the conveniently ignored existential risks which are so conveniently ameliorated in so many posts will become a reality. It's a shame this board which is after all supposed to be an investment board seems to lack a true grasp of the dire situation IMG are in. IMG shares cannot be seen as a serious investment given the current situation so they remain a share to short and trade for the brave. To think otherwise is truly the triumph of hope over experience. As ever I wish everyone good luck and really hope I get a surprise one day and that those investors who have sat on shares are rewarded. But, I fear the winners will be corporate giants who will be picking over the bones of this excellent and innovative IT organisation which sadly had no idea how to run itself as an effective PLC business, that is, until it was too late.AIMHO and DYOR
Mediatek X30 Mips and Powervr? techno foxHardware based security build in to modem chipset and GPU? just one more point missed in these articles, the Mediatek X30 also contains the latest PowerVR GPU so we would be foolish to ignore the security gold standard of using these two chipsets together?[link]
Re: just thinking outside the box again? techno foxor each MIP's of the multiple operating system channels could be used by an internet security programme as separate operating system pc virtual machines using different OS to deliver total security.
Re: just thinking outside the box again? Even better Techno. Do what flight safety critical systems do. 3 separate computers doing the same task e.g. deciding on the rudder position. Each has software/firmware and perhaps hardware built by different teams. Only if 2 of 3 agree does the action happen. Look for - heterogeneous dual-channel architecture and multi-channel voting architecture. I suspect there are other names. This explains it well.[link] cars will have to do this. One bit gets hacked then the voting machine will ignore it. Hopefully MIPS is well placed for security - looks like it. If so, nothing else matters. Saving a few pennies on processor IP for a $30K car which could wipe out a party of nuns crossing the road due to a hack.... can't happen. Same for every IoT item. Hacks are tolerated now. But not for much longer. Security is everything.
just thinking outside the box again? techno foxthe IOT hacking threats and internet security and the MIP's CPU HARDWARE security advantage over other chipsets like ( ARM).that got me thinking about the way the German Enigma machines which were nearly unbreakable, it worked by using a set of code wheels 6-8 which each of which works separately and together to give almost total security, if a few more wheels had been added then even our code breakers could not have cracked this code?so this got me thinking could the MIP's multiple operating systems be used as the equivalent of a virtual Enigma machine with the virtual code wheels being each operating system working separately and together to deliver a vital bit of the secret code.
All along it's been a customised IMG GPU on which royalties are paid. That's what Apple are entitled to do. But whilst it's built around a IMG copyright product then there is no change. A Royalty would still be payable. I'm with TF on this.
Apparently none of the major shareholders have sold out or reduced so why not? Anyone got any ideas? I imagine they believe that the market perception will only get better and it will when the Market realises that my previous post is and was always the case.
It's a Business Relationship: Apple will choose the Best Product Available at the time. Forget the public Slap-down for IMG and any USA/UK special relationship. It's business and IMG just need to keep their products at the Cutting Edge and well protected and DEFENDED and if they come up with the best available then that is what Apple will wish to use.
Can someone suggest if I can hold or sell the IMG shares
