And here it is, also in The Times [link] can obviously do the job !Solid state batteries will do it even better !!TP

Re: Matt Ridley I take your point – you would have thought the Times would give someone the opportunity to put the other view and explain what is going on and why it will work. I am intrigued to know how much research he has actually done. Ceres Power, Proton Power and ITM are among other companies that should have plenty to say.

Matt Ridley Thought that there'd be more Times readers on here!Ridley is a well-known climate-change and green energy sceptic (+ owner of coal mines and peer of the realm) but also a respected journalist. His piece today comes as Germany announces the end of petrol/diesel cars and basically says that batteries are not good enough and never will be - either for transport or for electricity storage. As Ilika (+ the Hydrogen lot) are all working in this field towards an end which he says is impossible, my point was simply to hope that one of them would write to challenge him ( and to reap the free publicity).

Re: The Times today Found this extract in an ADVN bulletin. Wonder if it's from the same piece ??"An unlikely resurgence in the price of coal could deliver an $18 billion boost to the four big mining groups listed in London. Despite falling foul of increasingly stringent environmental regulations around the world, the unfashionable fuel has rebounded spectacularly this year, making it one of the best-performing commodities. - The Times"If so, there could be a boost for edl. And a challenge for ika !TP

Re: The Times today I haven't seen it either but a quick internet search shows Matt Ridley to be a renowned climate change sceptic with a record of lobbying for the coal industry. So it is not hard to guess the tone of his article...

Re: The Times today Not being a Times subscription holder I don't know the basis for your comment T&W. Would you care to elucidate ??TP

The Times today I do hope that someone from Ilika (or one of the Hydrogen economy companies (ITM or AFC) will reply to Matt Ridley's article in today's Times

exploding smartphone OEM's redesign techno fox ILIKA has a massive opportunity now to get a foot in the door of the smartphone market, its just a shame they do not have a smartphone battery prototype for smartphones up and running.[link]

Re: Samsung exploding smartphones TECHNO FOXILIKA has already proved its solid state battery technology works at the smaller scale and so it seems a simple task to scale up the size given the right amount of money thrown at a new plant to produce smartphone batteries that cant explode, Samsung has just seen 17 billion knocked off of its share price value, I very small part of this could get a new line of smartphone batteries based around ILIKA battery technology, lets hope the management get this to.[link]

Re: Samsung exploding smartphones this must be a, once in life time opportunity for ilika to hold serious talks with Samsung on their battery technology for smartphones?[link]

Re: Samsung exploding smartphones TF, yes, this is big news for the solid state industry. The instability of Li batteries is well known, but today's news about Samsung stopping production means big trouble, not only for Samsung, but others using this tech should also be looking at their products in terms of their safety.Solid state is definitely the way to go. Come on Ilika, let's get those phone batts into production and capitalise on this gift from Samsung.TP

techno foxx 11 Oct 2016

Samsung exploding smartphones techno fox Given the huge hit to Samsung smartphones over the exploding batteries Ilika should move as fast as possible to scale up the size of their battery technology for the smartphone market and Ilka would also have its a major customer given the cost of the Samsung recall, samsung might even fund the development of the ilika solid state smartphone battery technology
