Re: SP over £28 Note the special dividend goes ex-div on Monday 9th May. Record date 6th. Special dividend of 632.9¢ so price will drop by ~£4.40 or more on Monday.
Re: SP over £28 Back up to approaching £30 and back she goes?.
Re: SP over £28 Another take over rumour I bet. If so, then expect further rises and if there is nothing too it, as several times in the past 2 or 3 years, IHT will make an RNS denying any approach. They normally do this quite quickly (a day or two). You can research that by looking at RNSs and comparing to chart. I remember one went over a bank holiday Monday once, if that helps pin it down a little. It is on such rumours I usually sell. Shame I sold early this last time! (I never seem to get a chance to buy more than one tranche with this company).
SP over £28 My alert just kicked in (possible sell signal).3%+ rise. What is going on, anyone?.
Demand Crunch [link] large hotel groups, which survived the downturn after the financial crisis by selling off property and becoming primarily hotel managers rather than owners, have been racing to add scale and consolidate.Marriott bought Starwood for $12.2bn, while Accor took over the owner of the Fairmont, Raffles and Swissotel hotel chains for $2.9bn at the end of last year. Last week, Hilton announced it was to spin off much of its property into a real estate investment trust. They are also having to spend to placate investors. InterContinental Hotels Group recently announced a $1.5bn special dividend, while Marriott and Starwood both tried to lower expectations for this year by cutting their forecast for revpar growth.""""""
Re: Woo Hoo 2463p Ex Div 31 March according to ii fundamentals tab. I'm sure there have been more special dividends than ii shows, but perhaps not. I may be getting mixed up, I lost all my notes on the company including the details of past trades. As I said, I tend to trade the sp movement rather than wait around for dividends, although I have picked up the odd one or two. They are always worth having when you get them, but of course the price tends to drop when they go ex div so the trade takes longer.I've invested in a number of hotel chains over the last 20 years and they always seem to get taken over. No bad thing for the investor, of course. With IHG there always seems to be a rumour around sooner or later that shoots the sp up. That is the time to sell, because they are pretty quick to release an RNS to nix it in my experience.I usually take 5% + if I can get that over a month, 10% plus over 3 months. I don't think I ever held them longer than that - although I've only traded them over the last 2-3 years (seems a lot longer!).Good luck. If you do get stuck holding after an sp drop, by the way, don't panic, because they pay good dividends and they are a top notch company anyway, or were last time I did the research which was a while ago now, and I assume they still are by the way the sp keeps coming back like a pendulum.Wish I could say the same for some of the other stocks I'm holding that have swung to the downside over the last 6-12 months!
Re: Woo Hoo 2463p Yep, trading range between £2200 and £2800.BT is similar - £5 then drops back to £4.40 all in a few weeks
Re: Woo Hoo 2463p I have been in and out these over many years, my first holding came in the 1960s when I was holding Watneys and Grang Met took them Max Joseph was running them at the time. This company has changed a lot from those days Sheppard was the man who made the big changes. I doing very nicely at present long may it continue, when do they go ex div?
Re: Woo Hoo 2463p I first bought under 2000p, sold about 25% up. Since then I just keep trading in and out of it, every so often catching a nice divi too. Great share.Every time it falls back below about @2300p I look to re-buy, then a rumour of a take-over starts and it shoots up again in no time, then I sell and wait to get back in again next time. I hope I haven't put the mockers on it now!I'm not in at the moment, I didn't know anyone was reading this board anymore. I'll post next time I buy.
Re: Woo Hoo 2463p Remarkable share price rise in last 6 weeks. Still a buy.
NEW ARTICLE: InterContinental Hotels: Asset light and cash heavy "The owner of InterContinental, Holiday Inn, and other famous hotel brands is in good shape, having sold its hotels. In full-year results to 31 December 2015, Intercontinental Hotels achieved a fall in revenue of 3% compared to the previous ..."[link]
Woo Hoo 2463p but still well off its highs
Re: 6% RISE TODAY Rumour denied so down 4% today.
