Re: Spread The spread is the best it has been in over 2 years and share price to match, this share was at 160 and above when market sentiment and fear of litigation in Norway raised its head and the threat of a cut in dividend, lowered the profile selling it down to 83 pence at one point, none of it really materialised to any great extent but it has languished at 100p for a duration, with few buyers really looking at future prospect or past value, i personally bought at 1.20 on the fall 2 years ago, but dividend has remained consistently good value. unless it has changed in management it is ruled by an octogenarian and a couple of aged sidekicks, may i say thank god for experience and wisdom DYOR
Spread Bid/ask of 113.5 / 114. Can't remember it ever being that close. Years and years ago maybe. Something up?
buy shares mag courtesy of Alliance Trust newsletterGood start for Hansard8.3% yield looks achievable after stronger first quarterMark DunneLife assurance and savings provider Hansard Global (HSD) looks a solid, high income stock as management reveal first quarter sales (July to Oct) are significantly ahead of those recorded in the same period a year earlier, according to an update on 23 September. The Isle of Man-based company is forecast by Panmure Gordon to pay a huge 9.1p a share dividend, equivalent to an 8.3% yield on the current share price, for the year to 30 June 2016. It paid 8.7p a share dividend, in the year to 30 June 2015. The first quarter is usually the weakest period for the £150 million cap but sales recorded in the opening three months of its current financial year are similar to those made in the final quarter of the year to 30 June. Hansard, which administers more than $1 billion for 528 financial advisers around the world, is seeing the benefits of its new strategy to expand the number of global advisers selling its products. The small cap specialises in tax-efficient products held in life assurance wrappers. Shares saysBUY : "Early signs point to a good year for high-yielding Hansard at 109p."
Re: Isn't this dirt cheap? Still looking cheap with a high yield but HSD has been considered a dividend trap in the past. They made a pigs ear of the 'charegeable event certification' with HMRC - although they havent had to pay out as much as they thought they would. Also they still have outstanding writs and pending court actions about poor returns on certain funds from around 2008/9 and Hansard Europe was closed to new business at least in part due to this. Their activity in Japan also took a hit last year.It does look like things are starting to pick up again in terms of international new business and they have 'refreshed' sales teams and admin structures.Presentation is here [link] Polonsky still holds a major chunk of the shares, so free float is relatively low - this will tend to exaggerate price swings.Looks like the institutional buyers are out today with 2M shares traded (2x 500K and one trade of 1M).Im still holding at a loss and hoping for rising divi and some SP recovery but Im not tempted to buy any more unless clearer signs of sustained improvement.Good luck allSG
Re: Isn't this dirt cheap? Shhh. Everyone else will hear you....
