What a mess Yet another turnaround plan.Banks have given them 3 years to lose even more of the little left for existing holders. With this latest loss I expect there is nothing anyway. Company broken up and Brands sold would just pay off the banks.

The Locksmith 07 May 2016

News RSN - Not for Release before 7.00amHornby (HRN) today announced a strategic partnership and exclusive licencing agreement with iconic Childrens' characters - Sooty and Sweep. The 3 year deal which will include the launch of a Scalextric motorbike and sidecar featuring the characters as well as a 1972 Ford Fiesta driven by Sue is set for launch in September 2016. A spokesman for the company commented "Sooty, Sweep and Sue (SSS) were highly credible and "on trend" puppets which pushed the envelope of children's entertainment in the 70's and 80's. Matthew Corbett followed in his fathers foot steps and ensured that SSS will remain in the hearts and minds of Britons, Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians for generations to come. We have already received a warm reaction from the UK Toy Retail trade and will be launching the range in Torquay in mid August. A global launch will follow shortly thereafter."Horrny's shares remain unchanged in early trading.Ends.

Re: FD appointed CFO... Meanwhile[link] are Bachmann's owner. Seem to be doing just fine.

Re: FD appointed CFO... This is a classic shorting opportunity; the current trajectory is not sustainable. If it is to survive the company needs a new approach which isn't going to happen with a promotion of FD to CEO. I fear another BHS...

Re: FD appointed CFO... The former CEO was removed for his failure to control the numbers. How will his CFO not have been culpable too?

Re: FD appointed CFO... Never a good thing when the bean counters take over. The next logical step to the final chapter.

FD appointed CFO... ... more executive costs!

Looking good Nice to see HRN break the 39p which it was bouncing off of. Hopefully the 40p is held today.

Should we be worried? Should we be worried that the executive chairman is not spending the time needed on the business given the shareholder revolt he is currently dealing with at CPP?

Re: Got some yesterday Perhaps the reality of the site value is the reason why the bank covenants were breached. This "transformational strategy" isn't working.

Re: Got some yesterday OH the building. It's classic Hornby really. For so long touted as a goldmine sitting there next to ramshackle B&Q, ripe for development, but they missed the retail development window and now have an old industrial shed full of asbestos. I doubt they will even get the £3m it is on the books for, so again some cash to burn to keep them employed, but naff all for the investor. And so it will continue until there is nothing left, for the investor.

Re: Got some yesterday Reminds me of Thorntons. Nobody wanted to know about them at 10p then they get taken out for about 140p. See what news comes in June.

Re: Got some yesterday Yes;I may have been too harsh.Obviously it has been a disaster to date for those who subscribed £14m net @ 95p for shares and for long term shareholders generally.Without this cash Hornby would almost certainly have been toast and probably not got support from Barclays. But looking at the company at todays valuation. It rather depends if the company can be turned round,or more particularly if losses can be curtailed.Providing at least the latter the company could be cheap. This is not a Petroceltic situation in that debt is small in relation to net tangible assets without ascribing value to the company's brands which clearly have a value.I note the company also expects to sell its surplus property for circa £3m which would help matters.I must credit an article by Bearbull in Investors Chronicle which makes a cautious case for Hornby for a change in my thinking.I have bought a modest holding which I may add to.

Re: Got some yesterday Maybe you have buyers remorse now? Probably best to get out while you can. Barclays are being supportive as they have to be.Nothing has changed in the company to stem the losses. If anything, the situation is worse as they are leaderless again. There are hints all over the place to consider, such as Continental Modeller review of Nuremburg show '...everyone on the stand was new'. The knowledge has gone.Someone will want the brands, but the company as a whole is still too rich, and Canham can't sell out for the real price (below 20p) as his average is way above £1.Without a big change in management and direction, it will limp along until Barclays pull the plug.I see a Petroceltic International (PCI) situation brewing where the shareholders this week were told to accept an offer 80% below the market price, or have worthless shares.
