Computing Gain/Loss Can anyone who is still here please tell me how to work out our gain or loss from the takeover? What is the disposal price? Is it cash plus the value of Sainsbury shares received on 6 September 2016 (or some other date)? Thanks very much in advance!

Re: Where to next week? Looking at today's RNS entitled 'Statement-Home Retail Group' it looks as though this has the potential to drag on for a couple of months yet if the 53 day option is invoked.

Re: Where to next week? Unlikely.I suspect they were both keeping their powder dry until the Interims were out. They would also have been assessing the other bidder. Neither will want a bidding war so they will have been trying to win support with major investors / pension funds etc.I would expect a new bid next week from one of them - but the real work is being done behind the scenes right now

Where to next week? Where do we think we will end up next week? Could both buyers walk away?

180 I assume this suggests that someone may bid more than the 175 currently on the table. Post before suggests a possible 185 bid from Sainsburys. Assume it is ticking up on that possibility.

Re: 172 open Sainsbury’s deadline to raise its offer has been extended to March 18, from an original deadline of today at 5pm.The Takeover Panel’s deadline matches the one set for Steinhoff to also make a firm offer.Even if Sainsbury’s raises its bid, experts believe that Steinhoff may win the battle.Analysts at Exane BNP Paribas said they expect Sainsbury’s to launch a higher offer at around 185p a share. They added that above 190p a share, the deal ‘ceases to offer double-digit returns’.Read more: [link] Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Faceboo

Re: Confirmation of approach to Home Ret... Ripley: Surely it would not have closed down, if the city already knew. However HOME BOD seem not to be bothered to divulge important info so Steinhoff thought they had better do it instead.
