Re: Interim results I was going to sell some at £3.30 as it was feeling a bit toppy, but held back as I was busy. Wish I'd sold and bought back now.
Re: Interim results Hit by indifferent results but ALSO poor PM prices. I shall certainly top up below 270. Gold and silver prices "are like a coiled spring". The question is will mining shares hold up when the great crash comes.
Interim results Got an alert from ii on Monday that bid price above my target price of 345 now 349.4. I did not act on it partly because recently ii alerts have had issues and prices not correct and partly because I expected HOC rally to continue. VERY bad Mistake! From CSS:"Hochschild Mining's pre-tax profits fell to $39.9m in the six months to the end of June - down from $60.3m last time. Revenues of $340.8m were up from $339.3m but adjusted EBITDA fell to $136.0m from $170.3m. The group said it was on track to deliver record attributable production target of 37.0m silver equivalent ounces for 2017 and that AISC was expected to be in line with $12.2-12.7 per silver equivalent ounce guidance."I had a quick look at results and it appears that their production costs have shot up.Share price falling like a stone. Currently 14.8% down and was 4.4% down yesterday. Suppose best to hold now as it looks possible SP price may recover in the next year. Really wish I had sold at least some Friday when SP closed at 331.6 or Monday when I think SP was even higher.
Re: While we wait Andrew Hecht Andy Hecht is a sought-after commodity and futures trader, an options expert and analyst. He spent nearly 35 years on Wall Street, including two decades on the trading desk of Phillip Brothers, which became Andy...more He has 10,000 followers on "seeking alpha" He offers advice on most commodities.....have a look.Meanwhile is the bottom now in?
Re: While we wait I would ask who is Andrew Hecht, how much money has he made trading gold, and if he is brilliant at it so worth following, why does he bother to write about it? I find it overall best to go the opposite direction of what most people write, and I use these boards as confirmatory contra indicators - you find the bottom when all say sell and the top conversely. I feel now is one of those times when it is acutely balanced whether gold will turn and go on up or continue down, so pundits are just adding their guesses. I think the Gold price depends overall on a story, 7 years ago with the crash, collapsing interest rates and qe, gold soared, over the last 6 years gold has given up most of that rise and a third of its price, reversing last year to 1370 this year to 1300 but then going back again. I really dont think anyone knows yet if what we have seen is a bounce in a bear or 2011-2015 was a pull back in a bullWe shall see.....
While we wait This is what Andrew Hecht thinks[link]
Re: Bubble Burst Quite agree. Bitcoin seems dangerous, a danger, unregulated and very bubbly, maybe some of the gamblers when burned will move to precious metalsOn Hoc I am now feeling more optimistic, ias the April fall appears to have been a correction. It is looking good, and Price of Silver is nearing its 200 day moving average. We haven't hit the greed stage yet with gold and silver. 1300 is proving a battle to get through in gold, but we seem to be preparing for another assault, (rap with June rate rise out of the way) and if so hopefully it should go on to test last years high, HOC should bound past 300 and hopefully past last years high of 327 Fingers crossed, can we be the tortoise to bitcoins hare.....
Re: Bubble Burst I'm far too sceptical of crypto. Never will invest in a currency that is only good for drug dealers and terrorists.. highly dangerous and unregulated and a matter of time before it all ends in tears... History shows evidences of bubbles bursting and it'll be no different with bitcoin.I'd never be brave e rough to call it as god only knows where it could go in this current herd environment but I fancy a rush to PM if it goes belly up.
Re: Bubble Burst If you are looking for some real excitement look at (GBTC) Bitcoin Investment Trust. Its going through the roof. Still is it an investment?
Re: Bubble Burst Thanks for that Bubble Burst. Watching and waiting!
Re: Bubble Burst Hope town, if you are new to this I wouldn't risk trying to catch a falling knife, even if price rises again which should soon it could well be a suckers rally. The fall IMHO is mainly because price of silve is collapsing, last year chair of Centamin sold a large chunk and price soared as price of gold rose. I would wait till Silver moves convincingly back thru 200 day moving average which is quite a long way off! I think it is pretty scary, and unpredictable just now
Re: Bubble Burst Just starting out on the precious metal adventure but I suspect that the crash in the value of silver has a lot to do with it, also Eduardo';s sale. I am concerned about the crypto currencies being used as a store of value in lieu of the PM's. I am a follower of Avi Gilburt and Taylor Dart over on "Seeking Alpha" Good luck! Maybe things will turn today?
Bubble Burst How long will these slide down???
Re: RNS: Back in the black should regain lost ground in a week or so but Eduardo's discounted sale has put a spanner in the works for a few days.
Re: RNS: Back in the black Shocker today! Was tempted to cash in yesterday so I guess a lot of others were feeling the same way. Hopefully a like rebuild in the afternoon as it's a good entry point @ 2.70 for sure!
