Geminic Any other strong sell tips, Geminic? Looking to top up my ISAs!Doesn't pay to be a contrarian on Halma, the market likes this company, as do I, because you know what you are getting. 37 years of constant dividend increases has to be held in the highest esteem by anyone looking for growth, stability and security in this marketplace.

Re: Results "ii Fundamentals are often wrong"I think that's a little unfair, but it does take a few days to update after results come out. Geminic - as you were referring to the results which had just come out which quoted EPS at the start, I would have thought you'd have used that figure than checking something which was likely to be a year out of date. The PE quoted in the fundamentals is simply the current share price divided by the last EPS given on the same page.

This was interesting "37th consecutive year of dividend per share increases of 5% or more."That's hugely impressive though the yield, at 1.36%, is pretty manky. Still, it's total shareholder return that matters and that has been spectacular.LKH on the flybridge

Re: Results Geminic,ii Fundamentals are often wrong. I almost never even glance at them any more ... best to go to each company's own website for info.LKH on the flybridge

Results The fudamentals give a P/E of 34 and that is where I got a P/E of over 30. Sorry this hasnt been updated as regards the latest results.

Hardboy 15 Jun 2016

Re: Results " (pe of over 30!). "Whilst I completely understand the sentiment of your post, I think you need a new calculator -EPS 34.26 - current price around 932. Therefore PE 27.2

Re: Results Geminic, Rapidly growing companies usually have an above average PE as future profits being factored against current SP. Take ARM its PE is over 40. I understand your concern about results and conclude that annalists see future profit growth arising from acquisitions that has yet to be born out by current figures.

Results The results were pretty uninspiring for such an expensive share (pe of over 30!). Can't see how this can be justified.

Re: 2016 Final results I'm in Halma because it can grow in spite of slowing world demand. It is drive by regulation and I like that because it will only increase .

Re: 2016 Final results Hardboy,Agreed but not just Brexit also bad news from USA re employment figures, leading to low possibility of interest rate rise over there depressing world markets. USA being biggest consumer market in globe, if their economy faltering there are global consequences. The roughly +0.5% showing for HLMA now would have +1.5% or more if markets were not depressed.Pleasingly bullish comments from II Editor.

NEW ARTICLE: Halma's amazing record run continues "If there was a prize for consistency, LSE:HLMA:Halma would probably win it. I seem to write that, or something like it, every time I cover the smoke detectors and automatic door sensors firm, but now, more than ever, it's a point worth ramming ..."[link]

Re: 2016 Final results Yes things look good, but with a market gripped in Brexit fear, the results will still fail to give the sp a boost.

2016 Final results From CSS:"Halma posted growth in profit for its recently-ended financial year, with organic revenue growth across its operations. The company said pretax profit for the 53 weeks to 2nd April rose 2% to £136.3m from £133.6m in the comparable period a year earlier."Looks like ROC down and debt is sharply up. Consequence of acquisitions. Good to see organic growth as well growth through acquisitions. Maintaining progressive, but modest, dividend which is satisfactory. From SP chart it is good to see 2 yr trend 26.0% pa. 1 yr trend 28.6% pa suggesting growth accelerating. Over the last 2 years HLMA is my favourite share in terms of overall return. I think it will continue to outperform for at least another year.

Re: Safe Haven One word sums it all up - Democracy......The EU is NOT Democratic nor ever will be.Still good to see Halma rising ever higher today. £10 very soon at this rate.

Re: Safe Haven My circle is generally one of ex-Servicemen and women, mostly medical and many now retired. Like me, they see the writing on the wall for the 'Federal States of Germany', of which we would likely become a bit-part player. Voting 'In' won't give us a reformed European Union, the vote would send a rather clear message to the beaurocrats in Brussels that we would accept things as they are - Cameron sold us down the river with his last attempt.to 'reform'. Disconcerting to see the political and Union driven unrest in France where they have never had it so good (!) and are often seen as favoured by the EU for their agriculture, fishing and Socialist agenda. We're all equal, but some are more equal than others - never so true as the current state of affairs in Greece, Italy, Spain, Poland, Portugal, - and then we have Turkey, now there's a bag of worms if ever there was.I'm an 'Outer' - I'd rather have the initial uncertainty of lower wages, pensions and house prices than the bigger uncertainty of a morally and politically corrupt EU. Now, wouldn't our younger generation like that too? We need an NHS that works, a strong immigration policy and adequate border control, look after our own laws, business and infrastructure - we should have strong and competent managers and business leaders to negotiate with the ROW after all? Surely the UK is reknowned for its world class business sense and leadership with the power and drive to lead - not available under the current terms and conditions from Brussels. I'm not advocating Boris - the guy's a bit of a joke, but with Trump and Clinton vying for US we need someone who could stand up and be counted for the UK whether we remain in (as is likely) or Brexit.
