Re: Why ? Also, any chance they hold some floating rate notes..... not checked.
Re: Why ? On Radio 4 John Humphries always used to joke that good results resulted in a price fall and bad news / results a price rise.Likely that people believe that HDIV has a more sustainable yield now and HICL come off the massive premium as potentially the start of interest rate normalisationPE
Re: Why ? Foolish - If you receive a convincing answer then please post it here! I was confident that selling a chunk when the cut was announced was a correct call, but the rise in the SP is telling me that I was wrong. On the face of it a prospective yield of 4.7% is not outstanding and I can't believe there is much prospect for capital growth. Confusing, but happy that I retained a majority of my original holding.
Why ? Help pleaseWhy is HDIV going up despite the dividend cut when the likes of HICL and JLIF are tumbling but maintaining or increasing their dividends? For interest I will post a similar question on their board
Re: shocked They announced this a while back and I sold a chunk on the day to reduce my exposure. I was expecting a larger fall in the SP than has taken place, especially as the dividend could be as low as 4.4p next year for a yield of only 4.7% with no realistic prospect of SP growth. It shows the difficulty of gaining yield in this low interest world IMO.Regards,
shocked That they have reduced the dividend even though its covered. I have held these for 5 years and dump the lot today on reading this. Just as interest rates look set to rise they do this, shocker!!
Re: Reliability Also held these for years along with IPE, CMHY and NCYF as the foundation of the income part of my portfolio. Very happy to hold all of these for slight growth plus 5-7% yield. As the divis have been maintained for years for all of them I am a little surprised that they are not more popular, given the rates available in the High St.
Re: Reliability What can't I say apart from agreed.... this plus IPE for a dull 5-6% every year is a good play
Reliability This is a great income investment. Steady quarterly payments 5-6% with occasional capital gains. Have held for years.
