Re: Sold @335p Nice one Eadwig - I sold my third tranche of GLEN at profit some time ago but as it turns out way too early.Tempted to sell second tranche yesterday at £3.35 too but held off the button - could go either way at the moment, copper still holding. GLEN has always appeared boring compared with Anto regarding price swing but some serious movements and good opportunities to trade in/out for good profit. There is some feeling that the miners could break out upward from current range but I think this is premature - time will tell.

Sold @335p All part of my trading on GLEN. Not so long ago I'd almost given up on getting @299p for the tranche I bought @279p. This is the strangeness of commodities and the US dollar behind therm all. This is also part of moving my long term holding of GLEN out of my trading account and into my ISA account. I will be re-buying within the ISA NEXT time we see @279p. I'm pretty certain we will, even if its via £400p.Meantime, I retain two tranches in GLEN as things stand, one in my ISA the other in my trading account. I now have to decide at what price I will sell the latter if I don't get chance to rebuy lower first.Considering all the time I've held it and the fact its only showing a small profit even at these prices, and hasn't always paid dividends over the holding period, it would have to be much higher to make up a reasonable return p.a.Instead I will probably settle for @350p-@360p in the near certainty that when the copper price drops back down to levels closer to reflecting actual current supply and demand and stops reacting to electric vehicle production forecasts, supply outage in Canada due to forest fires (most supply now back in place) and potential strikes at ANTO and current low purity of the ore at Escondia, the worlds largest Cu mine at the moment, and GLEN's Congo production gets fully back online, not to mention RIO's Mongolian mine, it will drop back down a good 10%, in my view (currently $2.80/lb).I assume that is what is driving major miner's prices at the moment, and thus will see a much lower entry point to buy back into GLEN at a future point.Best laid plans ....PS. Wrote this yesterday sometime, but just found 'submit' didn't appear to work

Re: T/A says SELL.. Finally, finally my price prediction happens - BOOM! as LG would have said. The difference is I predicted it to happen before 8th June, within a reasonable time span and the share has been all over the place since that prediction.Have learnt from this - hope others have too. Predictions with no time specified are worth nothing but large, tradeable changes in a share price happen over a relatively short period of time. I have lost out on Anto having traded out of the share for modest profit at £8+ when it has risen almost without a pause to today's price but it will have to rise a lot more to absorb all of the crystallised trades made. Still holding GLEN - what a turnaround and, as it turns out, a good hedge being out of anto.

Re: Hi there. In today jaytee41, " What happened last year to make it crash like a stone please ?"Their debt was too high and the markets got very jittery that GLEN wouldn't be able to pay it back and would go out of business. So, they did as all businesses do, and borrowed more, then spent a year or so selling assets that they bought from Xstrata to reduce debt. And here we are, with Ivan the Chairman (and large shareholder) looking to buy stuff again. I'm glad RIO sold their col assets to the Chinese, even if they are next door to Glencore's. Coal is not the future. On the other hand Glencore has signed a contract to sell up to 20K metric tons of cobalt products to a Chinese firm, a move that also will help Volkswagen secure car batteries for its shift to electric vehicles, Reuters reports. The deal to supply cobalt hydroxide and alloys was struck in October, when cobalt metal prices were ~$28.5K/metric ton on the LME, according to the report; the price has since more than doubled to above $58K/ton."It was a triangular deal" among Glencore, VW and Chinese battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd.. "CATL on their own weren't willing to commit to such a large quantity so VW said they would buy the batteries" from CATL.

Re: Hi there. In today "Pick the right time to sell - that is where I usually go wrong - that and picking the right time to buy"Oh, I don't usually time it right. Got attracted by an article and it gives dividends too. What happened last year to make it crash like a stone please ?

Re: Hi there. In today You certainly picked the right time to buy.Not sure why Anto and GLEN has recovered so well over the last couple of days as all the indictors, copper price, gold price, oil, exchange rate, etc are more or less neutral.Pick the right time to sell - that is where I usually go wrong - that and picking the right time to buy

Re: BUY @279.xp rhino666, "FRES getting cheap with the fall in gold price - what do you think? "If I was going to buy a gold miner it would be Randgold Resources, otherwise if I was to play gold again, and I may if it gets below $1200, I would be buying something that tracked the price, rather than a specific miner.Other than GLEN and its trading arm, I'm not really very interested in big miners any more.

Mrbusiness 04 Jul 2017

Re: BUY @279.xp You have it , Fres looking cheap 'with the fall in the gold price', well it would be looking cheap if there hadn't been a $70 fall in gold price so cheapness depends on both absolute gold price but more market view of where gold is going next,When gold was 1220 in nov 2015 Fres was below 1000 as trajectory was down, The big worry is if gold and silver were to get below aisc Fres would be a loss making company, and half way there would halve profitsSo it is v geared to price of gold and silver and v scary and price depends a lot on trajectory of both so hardly cheap now if trajectory continues down. all imho

Re: BUY @279.xp Probably a good move Eadwig - you cannot lose either way.I held back for a few quid on selling some of mine, having already sold my anto too cheap earlier in the day. Will probably sell around a third of my GLEN holding tomorrow if the boat hasn't already sailed..FRES getting cheap with the fall in gold price - what do you think?

Re: Coal winding down Games, "clearly Ivan doesn't agree"Thank bog RIO chose not to take their offer.
