Re: Today Lupo obviously has too big a capital gain. He can sell tomorrow.
Re: Today pf,Lupo's problem is that his devotion to GKN caused him to pass up 460p after GKN rose from 290p. How many investors turn doen such a gain?Cheers, RAC
Today Quite a lot of selling today as institutional investors unwind their positions together with a fall in the market due to US/China trade war escalating. I think there will be a bit of an overhang but encouraging to see Goldman upping their stake.Lupo is a bit like a cracked record. All doom and gloom.
Re: ADVFN Lupo,So you missed selling GKN at 460p+ - you really are a comedian. As to GKN falling it would be better to compare GKN and MRO over longer period than 1 day.Cheers, RAC
Re: ADVFN MRO down big time. Looks as if the light is dawning on their investors - except for GS.
Re: ADVFN RAC - "What 460p? The 463p peak on 2nd April"Oh that's useful. You're a funny lad.
Re: ADVFN Lupo,What 460p? The 463p peak on 2nd April. There's no "might" about GKN falling back - it's doing so already. How you can believe that GKN will prosper on its own once Granny Stevens has flogged it off to Driveline (who are not too miffed at missing out) beggars belief?Cheers, RAC
Re: ADVFN RAC - "how will Lupo and his ilk feel on passing up 460p? Schadenfreude."What 460p?Seriously, I'd be very pleased if the deal fell through. Sure, GKN might well fall back, but that'd be nothing compared to MRO's upcoming fall when their investors slowly realise that MRO will struggle to deal with their new company, and big customers start to re-think who their long-term suppliers might be. Just waiting for MRO directors to sell big chunks on the excuse that they want to make more shares available for new desperate investors, lol.I very much doubt that the deal would fail, however. Can't wait for the new tax year when I can sell my GKN.
Re: ADVFN And if the deal falls through causing GKN SP to continue falling how will Lupo and his ilk feel on passing up 460p? Schadenfreude.Cheers, RAC
ADVFN Engineer GKN was under the cosh after some weekend headlines about potential governmental intervention in the Melrose takeover. Newspapers have alluded to divisions in the cabinet, with Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson under pressure to intervene in the deal as GKN is a supplier to the Ministry of Defence, with implications suggested about potential national security issues.Analysts at Olivetree Financial, however, said these tales are more to do with political ambition than a genuine threat to the deal. They pointed out that the whole defence arm of the aerospace division only employs around 750 people out of the 52,000 currently employed by GKN, with low volumes and "basically insignificant" revenues "and yet is the only part that it is really possible to argue there is any national security element surrounding".
Re: Melrose purchase timetable? right on pike - and there's more today with another featherweight entering thering - the doughty Gavin Williamson desperately trying to be taken seriously.
Re: Melrose purchase timetable? This is all political posturing.
Re: Melrose purchase timetable? RAC - shouldn't worry too much about the 'dozy hapless' Business Secretary (AlistairOsborne Times Business today)."He's wittering on about the takeover of one British engineering company by anotherone on spurious 'national security' grounds. He should save himself the trouble. It'sin the nation's interests that Melrose won"For me Clark just presents as a useless numpty. One of the many burdens we bearwith our bloated inefficient system.
Re: Melrose purchase timetable? If Greg Clark seeks to use the national security angle to block the takeover then maybe the intended offer timetable is nullified and bang goes the 460p+?Cheers, RAC
Re: GKN up to ........... Silly thing to say, in the nicest possible way
