WHY EXODUS FROM THE BOARD? Any one know the reason for resignations of many directors and other senior management from Genel recently? (Tony Howard, Nath Rothchild, CFO etc). Also at AGM on Tuesday about 31% voted against Remuneration Report, election of Murat, rejection of a new director etcAny reason/explanation on it would be appreciated.Thanks.
Re: Probably TO Things are a bit clearer today , I have come close to taking profits a few times recently but have resisted the urge . Sit back and wait I think is the best option , and I think this will reward us well . Don't set a stop loss is the key . IMO .
Re: Probably TO Something does seem afoot bravedog. It is breaking out and upwards again after a few years of misery. The PI's though always seem to be the last to get a whiff. One of several interests of late.Own due diligence.
Probably TO When you have big changes on the board, it is frequent that a TO happens. The stock has just crossed its 200 days MA. And very big volume is meaningfulGLA
Re: Confident buy Maybe we'll see an RNS. Interesting certainly.
Confident buy 3,602,436 bought @82.5p . This could be about to break out .
Re: Whyte I've had the pleasure of having many a conversation with Stephen a few years back - one when he was previously being considered for this job - he is a shrewd chap with good integrity- A good man for Genel IMO
Re: Whyte To be honest ever since TH sold off a stake here and put the proceeds into Glencore it has multiplied by about x3 and x 4 and Genel has backtracked ever since. I have to say what with the BP Gulf of Mexico spill and him then seen on a yacht in the Solent enjoying himself and with the way this share price has performed under his stewardship I don't think many will be sad to see him leave. The new mans credentials seem sound and it may well be worth a gamble on the new broom and bringing diversification outside Kurdistan. Too many eggs in a country that has not been duly rewarding its oil producers.NOpec and Opec meetings due in roughly 1 month.Own due diligence.
Re: Whyte Maybe as much to do with TH departing, he's not exactly been associated with good luck has he?New man's cv including RDS background looks good.Markets stronger today anyway, also a possible spill-over from Turkish market (from Bloomberg):Turkish stocks climbed to an all-time high on Monday, boosted by renewed risk appetite in global markets, a relief rally following the countrys recent referendum and expectations for a strong earnings season.Meanwhile PoO slipping to last year's levels, EIA figures for monthly US production due Friday....further falls possible.Genel's sp seems to be slightly defying gravity - not that I'm complaining about that. Just bizarre that the sp is better now than just before the last Taq Taq revelation..
Whyte Market seems to like the New boy.
Re: Farm out with Turkey? Yes - if you were in at £6 or more (as I was at one time) and held through the fall then the prospects of recovery do not look promising. The only redemption for me has been to trade it and accumulate sufficient to eventually break-even at a much lower sp. It has most certainly been a turkey and may well continue to be. Good luck!
Re: Farm out with Turkey? I'm afraid the view is very different depending upon at what 'height' this turkey was purchased. Even 40% of very little is very little ......
Re: Farm out with Turkey? Some would classify >40% in a fortnight as flying. It does seem bizarre given there's no apparent reason and Taq Taq has just been declared a busted flush.I'm actually in profit over the last month - wasn't anticipating that.Still in loss over the last three years, of course, but gradually grinding that down by trading. It isn't one to buy then forget.
Re: Farm out with Turkey? Well this turkey better fly soon or a lot of PIs will be annoyed. High risk, (very) low reward ATM.
Re: Farm out with Turkey? From the link, Murat Ozgul: "Genel has been central to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq's development as an oil province, and we now look forward to playing the same role in the development of gas exports which will provide a huge boost to the KRG's economy, " Not that Genel has much to show for its 'central role' so far!
