NEW ARTICLE: Filtronic's second half surge drives upgrade "Facts have been thin on the ground in the run up to the European referendum, and the market hates all the uncertainty. This isn't just a macro phenomenon - it's the same for specific stock, too, and LSE:FTC:Filtronic, a manufacturer of radio ..."[link]

"Filtronic’s FY trading update features a strong H2 sequential result with Wireless +274% as the standout performance. In addition to the sequential revenue growth, we are encouraged on many fronts and to reflect this we have elected to tentatively reintroduce 2017E forecasts to better reflect H2/2016 progress and the current order book. The uncertainty of the last year, the management changes, the fund raise, move to AIM and the restructuring have all impacted the share price." Panmure note out this morning on Research Tree

Director Buy Not huge but aways good to see.."Michael Tyerman, Financial Director, bought 9,340 shares in the company on the 16th May 2016 at a price of 10.60p.."Another new order should see this share take off to previous levels imho. I expect this after mid June due to Director buy rules.

Small Company Share Watch newsletter I'm delighted to see a lengthy article on FTC in today's subscription SCSW newsletter. For a company which has until now been so far off the publishing industry radars, we seem to now be well up and running. The key to a further and more serious uplift in the sp will be sustained order bookings and a return to fully positive bottom line accounts....at which point it will rather late to be coming to the party, imo.m

Yorkshire Post Mobile phone technology firm Filtronic cheered investors with the news it has signed up new orders worth £17m.Shares shot up 23 per cent to close at 10p after the Leeds-based firm said it has received substantial follow-on production orders for its new range of integrated antennas from a major European network and telecommunications equipment manufacturer.Analyst George O’Connor at Panmure said: “With news of orders valued at £17m, Filtronic proves that it has not just turned a corner – rather it has driven a truck through it. The news is further endorsement of our view that the company, after a very difficult period, appears to have found its mojo.“Whilst we have elected to retain our ‘under review’ stance for now, we are very encouraged.”The new orders, which add up to £16.8m, are follow-on deals to previously announced orders which were worth £9.5m.Filtronic’s CEO Rob Smith said: “These new orders are a further sign of the market acceptance being shown for our new antenna products.“As with any new product introduction it is difficult to predict the timing and scale of market demand.“However, we are delighted with the progress made to date.”The company expects that the new orders will be fulfilled in the financial year ending May 31.The group has conducted an initial review of the working capital requirements to fund the new orders and believes that its existing invoice discounting facilities will be sufficient. The board will continue to monitor this closely as production commences to fulfil these orders.Filtronic will provide further information on trading in a pre-closing statement that will be issued next month.Read more: [link]

Re: Better vibe Good products will sell themselves. Once new FTC products get traction in the market, particularly in US I would not be surprised sp recovers to mid 30's. Maybe I would think about levelling down in your situation if I had spare funds but don't take what I might do as DYOR etc. Good luck.

Re: Better vibe well a long way to go till the feel good factor comes back for me as still 90 % down !!! when they get to 65p and i'm in profit by 5% then it will be good but that is light years away if ever

Better vibe Feel good factor coming back with this share. Cash in coffers now to grow. New orders that could mushroom. New FD. Recent sp rise. USA slow to go 4G but once catches on then FTC kit will be in demand. In again and hoping for recovery to previous levels in 2016. DYOR.

Re: my take on the AGM A chance to buy shares at no dealing costs, and as a shareholder and not a day trader to support the company through to better times.

Re: my take on the AGM Apologies for naive comment (I'm not a regular investor) but the open offer to buy more shares is at 5pence per share. This no practically no different to the trading price at the moment. What incentive is there to take up the open offer?

my take on the AGM Filtronic AGM 27/11/15My take on events! The retiring Chairman-Mr Ford said that he was leaving the company “in good shape for the future”. He and all the other Board members are taking up their rights in the latest fundraising as is Aberforth who hold 19%. Encouraging? I had the opportunity to speak to the Auditor –KPMG-before proceedings and asked if they were confident that the company was not in a terminal sate and he assured me they had the funds to continue for a minimum of the next 12 months. That was before the further fundraising available to existing shareholders announced this week so I found that re-assuring. I was disappointed that the rights issue was at 5p when it was trading at 9p before the announcement and the rights issue had been well documented prior to taking place. Had this not proceeded even at this price the company would no doubt have gone into administration. In the wider environment smartphones are still expanding rapidly so the 52K masts in the UK and the masts in the US will all need upgrading to cope. California alone has nearly 50K masts. The antennae facilitate that. Secondly the video market on mobile is growing exponentially and so the E-band transceiver modules are needed to cope with the mobile telecommunications backhaul market. It is interesting to note that smartphones need a stronger signal for phone calls than the old phones.(DT today)Wireless. The focus is on the ultra wide band integrated antennae which can handle new and legacy signals This is particularly important in Europe and the US. The product is as important to the OEM as it is to Filtronic. The roll out of 4G and the increasing demands to reduce running costs, in conjunction with the increasing demand for data hungry mobile internet apps, especially video based traffic requires the operators to install greater capacity . moving more RF management to the antenna there will be improved signal handling; lower power usage and reduced wind loading on towers. Installation costs are cheaper as they require fewer “tower climbs” to install integrated antennae. The enthusiasm for this product is reflected in that the OEM funded the tooling process-$265k; and are now funding the pre-production pilot process of $465K. It is all about the orders and the speed in making the transition on the mastsBroadband. The latest generation E-band module Orpheus has class leading performance. They have also won a contract with Selex to supply transceivers for a satellite communications project. No details were supplied. As a result they are broadening their customer base beyond telecoms and making a strategic push into the defence/aerospace marketsIn light of the rights issue and repeated profit warnings over the last year optimism is at a low ebb. Is that an opportunity? In January 2015 when the SP was a lot higher Paul Scott stated he would rather wait for a +ve trading statement and pay a bit more! That was a good strategy as events have proved. I have a core holding in Filtronic and from now on will follow Paul’s suggestion!3/12/15

Re: Aberforth Partners LLP I aske that question at the AGM this morning and the answer is yes. All the directors are taking up their rights and if there are any left over they will take them. I will be doing a summary on my take of the meeting!

WANTPAYINGONTIME 25 Nov 2015

Re: Aberforth Partners LLP Will they take up their options at 5p ? that is the question. Maybe going to try and get coompany on the cheap. I will not throw good money at a failing company. Lost enough already
