A great business in the making forddrive,Yes, very solid results, and the promise of more growth to come: a great business in the making. I expect long term holders to continue to be rewarded."The Board believes that James Fisher remains well placed to provide further growth and value for its shareholders. The Board has agreed a 10% increase in the interim dividend to 8.55p per share (2015: 7.80p) payable on 4 November 2016 to shareholders on the register on ----"
Re: J Fisher BMS and CKN are not in the same business.
Re: J Fisher Forddrive,Stodgy solid rather than rock solid but better than BMS and CKN, especially as interim increased as well.Regards,Seadoc
J Fisher Rock steady results.
Re: fisher Not much volume but nice rise in the share price. My guess is there is a bit of institutional topping up. It does benefit from lower sterling.
fisher Something afoot?
North Sea weakness forddriveNorth Sea weakness is not over yet: far from it. --However FSJ`s strength in diversification is compensating nicely in the meantime.
volatile share price ? forddrive,You are nothing if not predictable! The shares went down to the low 900`s on fears that the business would suffer badly because of oil. The bounce back since was bound to see profit taking sooner or later . FSJ still look a better long term investment than most, regardless of what economies do . Suggestion---If we leave the EU and all shares suffer as a consequence , --buy more. I don`t share your apparent nervousness.
Re: Execution risks Tejo - thank you for your helpful reply. There are undoubtedly execution risks in some of the exciting sounding new contracts. However the company is also becoming more distinctive at the same time. We bought in more than 10 years ago, and have increased our holding gradually since then. Hopefully the "North Sea" weakness is now behind us?
Execution risks I have held shares in FSJ for many years and it is an interesting and progressive company operating in niche markets. I do not think that the movements in the sp are more volatile than one expect reacting when there are concerns or with good news. It is an attractive long term investment with one proviso. In several areas, particularly nuclear, there are obvious risks whilst executing the contracts and, as anyone familiar with construction knows, a contract that goes seriously wrong can bring down even the biggest company. I have increased my holding slightly this year and may do so later on, but although a desirable investment, a close watch would be wise.
J Fisher This share has been a core holding of ours for many years and we have done well. I am however surprised by the continuing volatility in the share price and wonder if anyone can enlighten me about the reason? Thank you.
J Fisher Another eye catching contract, and very specialised again. Let's hope they manage these big contracts successfully - they must be challenging to deliver. Nevertheless this is a big turnaround following the recent worrying period about N Sea exposure.
held for almost as long forddrive,I have held these for almost as long, and have not once doubted the managements ability to realise the potential in the all the markets they address. I have often said that " the sea is effectively the last frontier" ( everything being done both on ,and below the surface ) . They are tendering for larger contracts now . The contracts you mention amply demonstrate the company`s strength in diversification.
J Fisher An encouraging re-rating based on results that did not show a major problem in the oil-related area and 2 good new contracts which both bode well for the future - the offshore wind contract and the one for the Indian navy. We have held these shares for 15 years and continue to hold/add.
