Re: Results and Low Gearing No worries - performance not too shabby either : [link]
Re: Results and Low Gearing Apologies to allI misread the results statement, which stated gearing contributed 0.2% to performance. I had read that as the actual level of gearing. Must be more careful.
Re: Results and Low Gearing Hi PercentageagainThanks fir that clarification- only 1% different Have I got it wrong when reading performance comparisons that F&C are ahead of the sector average over 1, 3, and 5 years ? Example it is up 113% over 5 years ?
Re: Results and Low Gearing Current FRCL gearing is 6%. Current discount is -7.8%. Figures courtesy of The AIC.[link]
Re: Results and Low Gearing Stepenwolf Neither statement of yours is correct, according to the results statement which states a) gearing of 0.5% and b) underperformance v benchmark of approx 6%I am commenting on the accounts only
Re: Results and Low Gearing Hello Stout-HartAccording to the info on iii (when you click on the name) the gearing is supposed to be 7%. Is that not correct? In fact recently FRCL has overtaken the benchmarks for all periods up to 5 years - not always the case in the past but I suppose the relatively high US component has helped recently
Results and Low Gearing Can anyone explain why in these days of low interest rates and in the case of FRCL, a high discount of SP to NAV, the level of gearing at 0.2% is so low. Surely there is case for gearing up to a level similar to the discount ?Is it any wonder FRCL has under-performed its benchmark. If money can be borrowed at a little over 3% as stated in the accounts, where is the appetite for risk ? If they can't feel comfortable in making above 3% returns what are they doing running this IT ?The fact that the peer group is similarly nonperforming is absolutely no consolation.
Discount Squeezed? Discount being squeezed a little - now 6.73%. Are funds now viewing this trust more favourably or will it be temporary?
