Re: Merger TGF, thanks for that. I had not really considered that although in theory we are sitting on top of a larger stock of a commodity....that commodity still lacks any significant intrinsic value until we start pumping --- which is still been impeded by the current POOI wonder if we will see a genuine correction of some sorts on the SP as post Humpback I felt FOGL was oversold.Guess only time will tell.I am very fortunate in that I came in pre-Humpback thinking that there would not be too significant an impact if it proved non-commercial (how wrong I was). And have kind of averaged down on the strength of Izzy and previous finds (and as I thought it was oversold). So my average is a lot lower than a lot of investors who have been in for the long haul.
Re: Merger I don't think it's relevant. I'd be genuinely surprised if there was any sustained or substantial movement in the sp of either RKH or FOGL off the back of this, merger or no merger. Remember that RKH needs a 300% rise just to get back to where it was when Isobel was first drilled last year. FOGL would need 400%+ to reach the heights it hit at a similar time. So even if we had a truly massive gain today, we'd still be talking about how we'd reduced our losses rather than increased our gains. This discovery is huge, make no mistake. But it's of no value as long as the price of oil remains at a level which makes the NFB uneconomical to extract from. The only thing which might shift RKH or FOGL into the sort of territory most long-term holders need to avoid eye-watering losses, would be for the Saudis to decide they'd succeeded in whatever goals they prioritise, and allow oil to rise significantly, or for a very big fish to come along and buy the whole NFB show as an investment based on a future oil price rise. The problem with the latter option is that any such predator would be buying now precisely because they can get barrels in the ground for next to nothing. So the chances of them offering a 500%+ premium on today's price would be nil. Our best hope would be for a rumour of such a takeover escaping early, so that speculative buys drove up the sp a lot before the bid came in. Sorry to be a wet blanket. However, at least FOGL holders (I'm one) can rest assured that they haven't been cheated out of anything by the merger. Because there's nothing to be cheated out of for the foreseeable future. For which, blame the Saudis more than Bushell, IMO.
Re: Merger Obviously this is great news re Izzy and seemingly the SP this morning has started to reflect that. But I wondered if the merger with RKH would 'stump' any decent gains in SP? Or do people think that any positive sentiment will just roll over onto the RKH price as well?
Shame Fogl didn't drill this first, we would have all been happy bunnies this morning!!
