No prices is trading suspended ahead of the Aviva buyout?CheersF
NEW ARTICLE: Did you profit from Friends Life mistake? "Friends Life (FLG) shareholders got a shock Wednesday morning. After closing at 430p the previous day, Friends shares traded as low as 404p, or down 6%, within 16 minutes of the opening bell. But this was clear error, and eagle-eyed investors who ..."[link]
Re: This morning's price changes I think more than one outfit got the wrong day. It opened right down and then rose slightly. Was watching while at home but working way out in the country and cannot get broadband good enough for detail. I suspect that a lot of people who dealt will cry foul. We shall see
This morning's price changes Reading the previous posts I note the share price dropped to 406p but is now back up to 428p approx. I see that XD is not till 6pm on the 9th April. I do not understand this mornings temporary price drop. Any thoughts?

Re: Share drop Am currently on a cruise ship iusing sea satellite internet which is slow.......... Due to lack of plug points at sea... So previous post of mine done from memory, so if today is ex divi day,............ Then i stand corrected.
Re: Share drop No.......not ex divi day. To the best of my knowledge - last day of trading according to the published time table is not until tomorrow and suspension on 10th April. This is the price correction kicking in in readiness for suspension.........if you look at Avivas share price right now it is bang on 74th higher ........ FLG 406p Av. 548pI suspect it might fluctuate a bit, as people panic not realising last day of trading is a day away in FLGI will miss FLG giving me a great annual divi return, but conversly, i have sold tranches of my holding at various times in recent weeks at prices ranging from 415p - 430p and still hold several thousand which I am happy to have converted to Aviva shares.......... But those I sold, the proceeds were used to increase my holdings in PHNX, LGEN and DLG, so its been win, win, win, and win! Plus FLG divi due around 24th April.Just need one of my other hioldings to be part of an M&A deal, so i can buy more GLIF with hopeful gains as I have just used my 2015/16 ISA allowance to top up my Woodford Equity holding.Albeit a few days ahead of concluding matters, i will say "bye FLG, it was good being a shareholder over the years in your various names of the past"
Re: Share drop Must be EX divi today - looking at fundamentals they have ex as today and record down as tomorrow
Share drop Dividend is tomorrow. Why the drop today at 10.00 ?

Re: Other reasonable Divi payers You must have different shares to mine. Mine are up about £1 per share since the announcement in November.
Large upward Movement Being a holder of these shares for years, I am at a loss to understand why there should be such a large upward movement in these and in Aviva....I was going to hold until the takeover..if that happens and then sell half. This upward movement has now cast a shadow of indecision over my thought process...boy do I hate indecision.I think I am reading this right, if I wait, I will have 3/4 of an Aviva share plus a 24p dividend on the original FLG holding,at present this will be the equivalent ( about ish) of selling my FLG holding prior to the takeover...if I am wrong here someone please enlighten me.BUT I still do not understand why the increase in both shares pric
Re: Other reasonable Divi payers BGas and Centrica were among the best divi payers until Milliband interfered in the market by saying Labour would freeze energy prices. Not a very smart idea in a falling market. We get a double whammy because the energy companies keep the prices high so they are not frozen to low which in turn has decimated the share price and the divi. Resolution now FLG have been up there but we have to wait and see what Aviva will do. Maybe a good deal for Clive Cowdrey but what about the little man? My calculation is that we are today 13p per share worse off than when the deal was struck though ameliorated by the anticipated divi of 24.1p per share dividend. Anyone buying before the record date will still show a profit which maybe why the share price keeps rising.
Re: Other reasonable Divi payers Albeit a bit more risky, but my wife and i are long term investors - you could look at GLIF share price around 61p or so at the moment and currently pays 5p divi pa (quarterly 1.25p per quarter). 'Juridica' is another.
