Re: Don't know if... No we are on entirely the same page. You claimed management had a disregard for passenger and bystander safety. This comment was totally uncalled for.Maybe the product you quote is a good one, one thing is for sure, you are not the right person to be approaching the company to sell another companies product. And your insinuation that if the company don't use the product then they are not bothered about saving lives is ridiculous without knowing the facts.
Re: Don't know if... I do think we are not on the same page here. My attention was drawn to the BBC report and the topic of my initial conversation was around the technology available to combat driver fatigue. You seem to be concentrating on one tragic incident. If management are as safety conscious as you claim they would be well advised to look at Seeing Machines offering. There is only one company making this product.TP
Re: Don't know if... I have no idea what caused the incident, that's what the report is trying to establish. I am certainly not ruling out that lessons have and can be learnt but to go from that to saying that management have a disregard for passenger and bystanders safety is simply not acceptable. From my experience FGP puts safety above absolutely anything else. FGP has an excellent safety record, transporting millions and millions of customers every year. Putting safety first is an absolute pre-requisite of running such a company. It's a sad fact of running a mass transportation company that accidents do occur, and the fact that millions of other passengers had safe journeys is of course no comfort to those people affected. I am assured though that FGP do all it can to run as safe operations as possible and I firmly believe that a disregard for passenger safety couldn't be more far from the truth.Personally I don't think you should make such outrageous and defamatory accusations without doing full research, which based on your previous comments, I don't think you have done.
Re: Don't know if... According to the BBC Report there was alleged failure of drivers to stay awake and alleged failure of safety equipment. Who would you say is responsible for that ?Perhaps it was the tea lady's fault ?TP
Re: Don't know if... You accused management of disregard for safety, absolutely unjustified.
Re: Don't know if... Btw, according to the BBC report this is not just one incident but several.Just trying to help TP
Re: Don't know if... You are, of course, entitled to your opinion about me and my motives. You're quite wrong to accuse me of self interest. I am not an agent of anyone apart from myself I am not accusing anyone of anything apart from being asleep at the wheel.I have emailed the company, as I have already said. I await their reply.TP.
Re: Don't know if... I think your comment is totally uncalled for. What right have you to make such an accusation? Did you hear the call with Tim after the incident, clearly not.I would respectfully suggest that a shareholder of a product is not the right person to be doing a sales pitch to a company of a product. Quite frankly your approach would be bizarre and probably not encouraged by the company you are trying to sell their goods, I suspect you have no authorisation to act as their agent. There is an investigation ongoing, I am sure lessons have and will be learned from the incident but your insinuation that if the company doesn't use a product that you have a financial interest in then they are not bothered about saving lives is bordering on disgusting. The accusations that Firstgroup are somehow hiding their involvement in the tram operations is way off the mark. It is a small part of the groups operations, but is clearly included in their website as part of the trains division. This has not changed since the incident, and despite the division being a small part of the group was the first thing spoken about by the CEO on the call to investors after the event. Many franchise operators don't carry the logo of the group operating the service, with a tiny bit of research you can find which company operates the franchise.
Re: Don't know if... That's how I am aware of what they do. But this campaign is not born of my shareholding, but from management's apparent disregard for the safety of people involved either as operators or passengers, or even bystanders. It's also interesting that the company appears to be several stages removed from its parent by a series of buffer companies. The cynic in me thinks this is to protect FirstGroup from public scrutiny. Without detailed research the two companies Firstgroup and Tram Operations cannot be linked. The trams certainly don't appear to carry the First logo, nor does the company feature on the FirstGroup website. This is not about shares, it's about saving lives !Sorry, rant over.Regards, TP
Re: Don't know if... You don't have shares in the company by any chance do you?
Re: Don't know if... Thanks, P. I've now been able to email them. Much appreciated. We're saving lives here, hopefully !TP
Don't know if... this has been raised before but it appears that First allegedly owns Centrewest which in turn allegedly owns Tram Operations Ltd, the company whose tram overturned In Croydon last year, killing passengers. Now a BBC report suggests more incidences of drivers allegedly being asleep at the wheel and the emergency brakes allegedly not working.I tried to contact First but despite extensive website searching could only find a general Twitter address. There is no reference on Firsts Website to Tram Operations and they (Tram Operations) don't even have a website. If anyone has an email address for First Group, or Tram Operations could they please let me know. I want to tell them about Seeing Machines (LON:SEE) who make equipment designed to alert drivers and a control room if there are signs of driver fatigue. This could save lives !Link to recent article : [link]
Confidence Seems a bit of confidence is returning here, still a long way to go but £2 could be on cards by year end if all goes well
Re: My Greyhound experience I know there are big changes in all management areas and they are getting to grips with a lot of the problems that they have had recently and most aspects of the company are being turned round and loss making bus garages etc are closing,I think the new management system is making good progress and given a little more time we should benefit from the changes
