The Times - Schweppes Reboot for fall? Is Fevertree fizzling out? The premium tonic maker has become something of an Aim darling since its float on the junior market three years ago. Shares in the company peaked at £24.85 in September after it triggered a rally by stating that trading would be “materially ahead” of expectations across the year. And yet they have since fallen 23 per cent, closing down 114p at £19.11 last night.RBC Capital Markets hit Fevertree with a rare downgrade yesterday, lowering its rating from “outperform” to “sector perform” as Schweppes, one of its biggest rivals, attempts to reboot. It “doesn’t bode well” for Fevertree, RBC advised clients, with Coca-Cola, operator of the Schweppes brand in Britain, reportedly investing up to £10 million in the relaunch.“Thanks to the extraordinary performance of the premium gin category and Fevertree’s strong execution, the UK has contributed to more than 50 per cent of the company’s organic revenue growth since 2015, accelerating to more than 60 per cent since [the second half of 2016],” analysts said. “We don’t know if Schweppes’ relaunch will be successful but we think it increases the risk associated with Fevertree’s top-line performance in its biggest market.”Lowering its organic revenue growth forecasts from 60 per cent to 50 per cent this year, 20 per cent to 10 per cent next year and 14 per cent to 10 per cent in 2019, RBC warned of “increased competition”. Fevertree dropped 6 per cent. The Bank of England indicated that yesterday’s interest rate rise was part of a gradual trajectory rather than a series of consecutive increases, piling pressure on the pound. Sterling fell to a low of $1.305 against the dollar, pushing the FTSE 100 within a whisker of record territory. The index, which is dominated by dollar-earning constituents, finished the day up 67.36 points, or 0.9 per cent, at 7,555.32.[link]

Re: Why The plunge This is slowly drifting down no news.I guess you are correct re hefty PE.I have sold and will be back in closer to results.Today this had another wobble.Boy did i misjudge the right time.

Re: Why The plunge There have been a number of large moves and a drop below £22 recently. There is no news any that has reached the market at least and indicators in the national press seem to be pointing to a continued spike in gin sales (artisan gins making gin trendy and popular) and a wider drinks culture on cocktails and individualised drinks. The assumption for is if you have grown this far this quickly there has to be some turbulence and wobbles, worries? Still a long way below the peaks of £25 plus. America and growing that market is important.

Why The plunge Yes it was too scary ,i thought that this was a good hold for 9 to 12 months, but the speed of the fall was dramatic.,unfortunately i sold 3rd of my holding.i regret that now as i still think its a good stock. But no mention of the reason for the sudden drop.

Re: Fizz going Volume today is 610,00. Hardly indicative of institutions selling up, I would have thought. More like mms fancying a bit of fun. The SP has been stable for too long they thought.

Re: Fizz going My guess is that the general consumer spending squeeze has finally reached FEVR.Seems like institutions are converting some holdings into cash-just for safety's sake-given the market's recent highs.Interesting how many shares in unrelated sectors (that I monitor!) have topped off over the last few weeks.

Re: Fizz going Perhaps my previous post revealed that Fevertree has no ginger ale in Greece or Tenerife. Sales not as worldwide as everyone thought!Just joking, there is no ginger ale from any source in Greece, not just Fevertree. I was making the point that there is a gap Fevertree should fill.

Fizz going Any idea why the sp has fallen so quickly today? Down over 7% to2200 today!
