Re: Someone knew Someone always knows, I doubt there is ever an annoucement made that somebodyknows and trades, the difficult part is proving it.I too have been a very long term holder, 20 years and more I think. The Divis have been good.Happy with the price, any chance of anybody else being interested? Cannot think of a name offhand.

Someone knew When most LSE shares were being routed, Fenner was a strong climber with higher than usual volume. The offer announcement was released after markets had closed. Someone must have known something!Looks like a done deal, though I suppose there is always room for another bidder, but not sure who is a sensible fit. I've been a long term holder of Fenner, and seen them through some difficult times, but they had turned the corner and things looked good; but I think it's a reasonable offer. it will be interesting to see what markets open at tomorrow.

Re: Q1 Fenner are now reaping the benefits of the diversification to their business. I always believed that it was a good idea which would make the company substantial and we are sharing the benefits. On currency movements again they are well diversified with the clients and their overseas operations so it will be swings and roundabouts which is exactly what we want in these pre Brexit days.

Q1 Trading statement all sounds very positive. All parts of the business growing: O&G & Medical significantly ahead of last year, polymers outdoing the market, Mining orders in Australia growing. Project work returning in EU. Order book growing. US Tax changes should raise EPS by around 5%. Full year should be ahead of expectations. Only negative was the strength of the £; but that's swings and roundabouts over the year, and not a serious problem. It's lower than 2 years ago. Much of the good news was already built into the share price, but still expect a nice up lift today. Expectations were for an EPS of 20.3 this year. That will now have to be adjusted upwards. I think the positive growth story, with the efficiencies made should offer good profit growth over the next couple of years, so I think a price of £5 is possible this year.

Break Out Certainly a great breakout today. Interesting to see in the morning how much profit taking goes on. I am certainly holding a large position and may top up if the price falls initially.

Re: Finals I think the management team have been doing an excellent job in very tough trading times for them. I like the way that they have diversified the business and continue to do so. Market sentiment is very positive and I agree Hardboy that we should see a rise to that 400 mark again soon.

Finals After all the profit warnings coming forth from my shares, what a pleasure it was to read this morning's Final Results. I get the impression that it has been a long hard struggle through difficult market conditions, but the directors have finally turned the business round.This should generate a bit of a rise this morning, though much of this was already priced in, so at last night's close it's already on a P|E of 19; but if sales can be increased at a similar rate, and more improvements can be made in margins, then profits can still zoom. It seems a long time since we saw share prices of over £4, but I think we might get back there in the not too distant future.
