Skin in the game? Can't help feeling that perhaps TS should have a bit more skin in this game now - £5m I think compared to the £200m he has in the main Equity Fund!
Fundsmith sends £30m to Mauritius Terry Smith's investment firm Fundsmith has poured close to £30 million into a Mauritius-based company set up by its partners two years ago. [link]
Re: NEW ARTICLE: Found: The ultimate contrar... an interesting, and slightly scary, read.I read an article on the Lindsell Train website, that essentially makes the same argument that Smith would make. It is in the INSIGHTS area of their website and backs up the idea that high p/es don't necessarily make a stock expensive.
NEW ARTICLE: Found: The ultimate contrarian investment "Found: The ultimate contrarian investment. The price is only 37 times earnings.Possibly the most conventional bit of wisdom in investing, borne out by countless studies, is that generally, over long periods of time, shares on low price/earnings ..."[link]
Re: Dividends? jonwig1,Many thanks. Sorry for delay, I have been away.
Re: Dividends? Explicitly stated that dividends were unlikely. Income not a priority.
Dividends? Can anyone remember when this trust was formed were any statements made about future dividend payments made? Thanks
holdings Hi all, just to say that the top ten holdings for this are available on the FT website. I only mention this because I couldn't find them anywhere else. [link] to see that there is minimal direct exposure to the Chinese market. The big holding is India and 10% in Ireland which I didn't know was classed as an EM but there you go.
Re: why the premium ? In answer to your question, I think the premium is mainly because of Terry Smith's record with his Fundsmith Equity Fund which has a similar strategy to FEET. There may also be a rarity premium as there are not any other investment trusts which focus on both ROCE and emerging market consumer stocks to the same extent as far as I am aware. The premium is actually a good deal smaller now than it has been but I would agree that it is often not a good strategy to buy investment trusts at a premium. I am a long term holder of this investment trust as I think the strategy will work out well in the long term but there is little sign of it working up to now.
Re: why the premium ? Well - here's a lesson I should have learned a long time ago ..... don't put in a buy order and then forget about it.Well, I did. I'm back in at 967 (NAV - 948 !! ). I'm getting too old for this.Bye, (that's Bye - not Buy).Ben.
Re: lets hope it has legs Thanks opp trader.see you hold some funds i have, been in that gartmore one since it was called tec tornado or something.ive buried it away somewhere glad to see its not a total right off.. lol
Re: lets hope it has legs The NAV is reported daily (one day in arrears). Click on 'news' to see it. The most recent was 963 p per share which is one of the lowest values since launch. I would expect to see this trading a bit closer to the NAV soon as performance has been a bit lackluster.
Re: lets hope it has legs whats the NAV now ?
