, a leading independent creator of video games, is pleased to announce an update on trading for the financial year ended 31 May 2017 (FY17).Good trading performance has continued since the last trading update on 19 April 2017. The Company expects to report revenue for the financial year ending 31 May 2017 of approximately GBP37.3 million, slightly ahead of previous guidance and a 75% increase over the prior year (FY16: GBP21.4 million). Operating profit margin for FY17 is expected to be towards the top of the 15-20% guidance range. The Company expects to report an operating profit (as calculated under IFRS) of at least GBP7.2 million, which is a 500% increase over the GBP1.2 million reported for the prior year.The step-up in financial performance over the prior year reflects the launch of Planet Coaster, Frontier's second game franchise, in November 2016. This marks the completion of a successful business model transition to multi-franchise self-publishing. I always like to see the phrase "ahead of the Board's expectations" in a year end trading update ))[link] outlook too:"The launch of Planet Coaster has driven a step up in our financial performance, and we now have two strong franchises in the market following our successful transition to self-publishing.We anticipate further significant revenue growth steps will be driven by the release of new franchises - our third franchise, based on an enduring Hollywood movie IP of global renown, is now in development for release in calendar 2018."

Great new review of Elite and summary of discussions about the game with FDEV:[link] time with Elite Dangerous at the show and in particular my chats with the developers has opened my eyes to this game, I had not jumped into it in the past, but have since started playing on PC and will explore the PS4 version once it is available. It is clear from my playtime and the sheer passion from the devs that there is something special in this game that evokes a sense of discovery and ownership of the universe that even great titles like Wing Commander and Freespace did not achieve. One of my favorite Space Sim titles was Wing Commander Privateer due to the freedom to play as you want. Elite Dangerous has tapped into that freedom but added mechanics, gameplay, scenarios and a truly organic galaxy that pulls you into the game and universe in a way I was not expecting but greatly appreciate."

I think in 10 years’ time there is scope for maybe a dozen big entertainment companies. coming to the x-box 1 Think Elite will be available on x-box 1 - that may move things and especially if it could go on the 360 version as well, although may be pushing it!!
