80000 shares issued Over the last few days, at full value, amounting to approx £1.1m directly invested into the trust.I’d add a buy tag, but I can’t because this website hasn’t been messed up once again.

Re: Future stock split speculation I have held FCS since 2002 when the price was £1.57. For me FCS has done exceptionally well averaging an annual compound return of 16%.I am a fan of IT's but many income ones seem to be a variation of a similar theme all holding the same FTSE 100 dividend payers which is not great if you already hold these individually.Based on recent recommendations I have bought Witan for a more global exposure (at the expense of Murray International) and I am thinking also of Scottish IT, recently profiled in The Times Tempus.I would be interested to hear from other posters about their IT experiences and holdings as, to me, they seem an excellent way of securing long term investment growth.

Re: Future stock split speculation > What leads you to think FCS might do a stock split, and why is thsi of interest? Nothing. I just wondered if there was a stated policy on the matter.

Re: Future stock split speculation What leads you to think FCS might do a stock split, and why is thsi of interest? I know Scottish Mortgage did a 5-for-1 split a couple of years ago, but from memory it didn't have a noticeable effect on the share price or affect the future performance of the shares.

Re: Discount Premiums occur because people try and buy the best-performing trusts, or what appear to be from coverage in the press, marketing and the (backward-looking) statistics, and are prepared to pay a small premium for this, However some trusts such as Lindsell Train in the IT Global sector are on such huge premiums (40%), you have to question the sanity of anyone buying the shares, or perhaps there's something awry with the statistics.Smaller UK company stocks are on large discounts at the moment, due to the perceived risk from Brexit, but there are also lots of good-performing trusts too, such as HVPE, a US private equity trust that has achieved over 20% return every year for the last five years, but still sits on a 22% discount, which must have a lot to do with a lack of marketing here in the UK.

Future stock split speculation Does anyone here have any insight as to whether FCS might split it's shares in future, and at what price they might do so? I can't find any historical data on FCS stock splits.

Re: Discount I have been looking at ITs with a view to investing, and the majority of the funds on my shortlist have a discount, sometimes in double figures. There are a few funds that have huge premiums though (and I avoid these). There does not seem to be much rhyme or reason behind it.

Discount The bid price 1143 is about 5% discount to NAV right now, and the ask is about half that. Not much, but given the returns FCS has achieved over recent years, I'm surprised the discount to NAV exists at all.

6 month SP trend 32.6% pa Most of my share portfolio in individual companies but not practical for global smaller company exposure hence my substantial holding in FCS. Just been looking at relative performance of FCS. On an AER basis (spread sheet calculates equivalent annual compounded percentage rise using time held and percentage change in SP since purchased) it comes 5th out of 40. ARM is 4th and HLMA 1st. FCS purchased on 27 Feb 2013 has an AER of 12.8% pa a later purchase on 28 May 2015 is 9.7% pa for total return add another 0.9%. In this low inflation environment these are excellent returns. Risk is lower than with individual stocks by virtue of FCS's diversified holdings.

Re: losing ground Well I just compared FCS against my holdings in Black Rock and JP Morgan smaller companies, both of which seemed to have been better performers of late. I just wonder if F and C are suffering from the CULs and their policy of issuing more shares when there is a small premium over the nav. They seem to have lost their previous momentum but the overall market is likely not helping. No strong feelings either way right now.
