Re: Interims Interims are due on 21st September which is next Monday.The retail side will have been fairly awful but I'm hopeful that licensing and wholesale will have held steady. There might be some progress on the store closures and a new FD. From my on the ground research the autumn collection looks a lot better than the disastrous spring collection and stock availability in store is good. This could be the low point in the company's fortunes.

Interims Interims due in about three weeks and they shouldn't be worse than the market is looking for. Once the figures are out I feel a move back to 40p plus should be on the cards. Its only the retail side that is causing the grief and with more people becoming better off, any increase in spending at FCCN will find its way to the bottom line

Harsh Price drop a bit harsh IMO. The retail arena is improving and FCCN will recover or be taken over. The brand is worth a fair bit and it has positive assets

Re: Profit warning Steady progress being made towards my 10p target with the possibility of somebody doing a takeover prior to that. FC a good punt for somebody on a turnaround basis.

Takeover You never know somebody might just fancy picking up french connection and having a go at turning it around. Rangemaster and thorntons have went recently. Worth a watch as it drifts down.

I'm out Well after 4 years of ups and downs, I decided to sell my holding this morning at 43.5p for an overall loss of 30%. It's still tough on the high street and my gut tells me I should cut my loses and sit on the side lines for now. GLA that are still holding.

FD quits Adam Castleton is moving on to LSL. Probably a good move for him but not great for shareholders in FC. That said the strategy for the next two years is clear. As long as wholesale and licensing can maintain their profitability and they can close loss-making stores and get the fashion ranges more right than wrong then profits will recover.

Re: Profit warning Alecro - FWIW the stores are not closing in four years but are closing over the next X years with an average lease left of around four years. So some stored are closing this year, more will close next year etc. All the time this is happening the retail losses should reduce, although true trading so far this year appears to have disappoinyed. So I do not think it is a case of waiting for four years for an improvement in group profitability. It should improve little by little as the unprofitable stores are closed, and already this process has been started and, as a result of last week's disappointments, accelerated.IMVHO and obviously do not take my word for it. Re: Profit warning Had hoped new designer ranges would give business new life but with four years to go we hear before FCCN can close loss making store leases in duff locations. Profits elsewhere will struggle to make up losses imho. Long term maybe positive if you can tie up funds for five years. More than disappointing. Dyor.

Re: Profit warning Hi Popes, I take yr point about share price and cash - although in general in these situations cash is being spent and that does not necessarily imply the share price should reduce in line with cash spend - but it is worth remembering that cash is seasonal in this business. Your figures imply a hugely increased recent cash burn because you have given the seasonal low of £9.9m for 2015 whereas in previous years you have given the seasonal highs. We should see cash of £20m plus later in the year IMO.There is no doubt that the profit warning is a disappointment but it is a disappointment in part of the business (selling stuff in its own shops) that is on the way out as leases are not being renewed as they expire. With an average lease remaining of around 4 years, the losses will naturally reduce leaving a perfectly functional sustainable and profitable wholesale and licensing business. In fact we should see overall profits long before the unprofitable stores are gone.IMVHO.
