Query re int rates HiHow will changes to UK rates affect yield and value on Fair Oaks 17 ?.....and obviously the same question re US Fed rates ?....anyone offer insights please ?SAGE
Re: NAV Good MorningHi sound money, only just saw your post here last Friday after you alerted me to it elsewhere.I sold out of FAIR late last year.I benefited from the increase in US $ value compared to GBP so showed an acceptable profit. Also received the generous dividends whilst holding.I always found it a hard company to understand fully.ATBsoi
Re: NAV Soi,Are you still holding here? What attracted you? Obviously the yield but how do you see the risk/reward?M
Re: NAV The market value of US CLO equity has fallen significantly recently, mainly due to concerns about exposure to oil and gas producers in this asset class (of which FAIR has virtually none I think). The US CLO market has been essentially shut to new issuance for an unusually long period. Defaults are expected to return to the historical average this year, and a little over next year. Also some concern about rate rises. It all adds up but there's nothing untoward, just ongoing cycles in this asset class. If it was a low risk 10%+ yield on offer then everyone would be buying it.
Re: NAV Why is the sp of this class of asset dropping so fast? Carador is a disaster, and Fair Oaks is substantially down too? Yields look stratospheric.
Re: NAV HiI hold some FAIR, thinking of adding.I bought mine thru Jarvis x-o ( the budget arm of Jarvis ), no problem, cost is fairly low at 5.95 per trade. No standing charges.Their platform is prehistoric but if you just want to buy something not available through your usual broker, might fit the bill.[link]
Re: NAV IIRC one of the brains behind Carador moved to Fair Oaks since when Carador has not done too well on a NAV basis. But I think they're roughly the same beast so I hold equal amounts in FAIR and CIFU and BGLF
Re: NAV Many thanks. Planning to switch from Carador to this fund. Good idea?
Re: NAV It's on the specialist fund market. Some brokers won't allow you to invest in funds on this market coz they are too sophisticated for the punters, so they say. But I can get at them fine with Selftrade and Halifax. There is a spreadsheet on this site which lists out the members of said market, it includes FAIR[link]
Re: NAV How does one invest in this? The code is shown as FAIR but my HSBC InvestDirect account does not recognise it.
NAV The NAV on this fund only appears to have dropped slightly compared to say Caradors, seeing it is invested in 90% CLO equity +10% mezzanine (Carador 70+30) I find this hard to believe seeing the losses in the high yield and leveraged loan markets over the last few months.
TOTAL EXPENSE RATIO - VERY FAIR Can anybody double-check for me or give me a virtual pinch, but is this a CLO fund with a TER below 0.5%??? I have looked at the accounts over and over, and this is what I keep surmising. There is also no performance fee.If it is true I would consider the management to be a decent bunch, and investable.
9% income looks a winner
dividends now to be paid monthly and yielding 7.5%!
