Re: SP following passenger stats "Does it strike anybody as odd"Not really. The share price has been up & down quite a bit today, at one point it was up around 20p. I can't remember what sectors did well yesterday; but markets were a just a tad positive. I'd bet if EZJ were up yesterday so were ICA, so it would be a sector movement rather than company.

Re: Dividends "Some of my technology stocks buy their own shares for cancellation over the year - no one knows quite when this will happen"Any company can do this - with shareholder approval - but once they declare a share buy back project, they have to sub contract it to a 3rd party who buys the shares on their behalf under strict guide lines, one of which is they can only buy up to a percentage of the shares traded that day. I'm not sure of the exact rules, but you could easily look them up. The % of shares traded in a day, and the 3rd party involvement is to prevent a company manipulating their own share price. Once a share buy back starts, there is no stopping it, so everyone knows when it is happening, but no one knows the volume that will be bought in any one day. "This seems a better way of generating shareholder loyalty than an annual cash payout."That depends on each shareholder's situation. Some people want income, some want capital growth. The former would prefer dividends, the latter may prefer the buy back. "It's too easy to buy shares in the run up to a payout them dump them once the divi is paid?"All things being equal (which they never are because there are always other things moving share prices) this is a good way to lose money due to stamp duty and dealing costs, because when a share goes ex dividend, the share price drops the amount of the dividend.

SP following passenger stats Does it strike anybody as odd that SP rose 4.56% yesterday before RNS on passenger statistics which show passenger numbers up 15.1%, yet on day of RNS SP essentially flat?

Passenger Numbers Are excellent. The best December Load Factor they've reported, and passenger numbers up over 15% on last year. Of course what profit they are making on these numbers is the important thing, and we may get some idea if they give a Q1 update at the end of this month.

Beaufort Securities published a new note this morning on ResearchTree: "easyJet delivered good performance in May 2016, with increased passenger traffic. This was despite 173 cancellations for the month, with French ATC strikes and weather conditions accounting for most of those. The Egypt Air tragedy also occurred in this month (19th May). Recently, easyJet reported strong Q1 2016 performance despite disruptions by terrorists. The board expects pre-tax profit for FY 2016 to remain in line with market expectations, helped by prudent cost management, low fuel prices, disciplined capacity allocation and resilient trading. It estimated that at January's exchange rates and with fuel trading at US$350–450 per metric tonne, its unit fuel bill for FY 2016 would decrease £165–180m from the FY 2015 levels. Furthermore, the company plans to expand its services by increasing flight offerings. Recently, several strategic routes were launched, including Vienna and Basel, which are expected to carry 78,000 passengers annually."
