WHOd have thought it.... Jamie Nimmo For The Financial Mail On Sunday230, 30 Dec 2017, 30 Dec 2017"HES more used to packing out stadiums and playing in front of tens of thousands of rock fans. But it appears that Roger Daltrey, the frontman of legendary rock band The Who, has turned his hand to investing.Big Investment: The 73-year-old is understood to be the latest celebrity backer of a London-listed music start-up which will allow users to watch gigs and other musical performances from their own homes by wearing virtual reality headsets.EVR Holdings, which is listed on AIM, the junior stock market, is preparing to launch its MelodyVR app next year. The company is valued at £90 million even though it has not yet launched its product.Singer Adele has already emerged as an investor in EVR, which has signed deals with major record labels including Warner and Universal to create virtual reality content.Anthony Matchett, chief executive of EVR, said he could not confirm whether Daltrey was an investor but added: We do know Roger and his son Jamie well. It certainly wouldnt surprise me, especially as weve worked with The Who for a couple of years. In October, the company raised £10 million to fuel its global ambitions. Daltrey, who has previously praised EVRs virtual reality technology, could not be reached for comment."RELATED ARTICLESMIDAS SHARE TIPS: EVR creates virtual reality music events |
Roger Daltry, who ? He is in - should staisfy panic sellers
Re: Christmas is looming Importantly 1. No long term committments2. Short term commitments can be met with CASH and ASSETTs Holdings3. Global Market, particularly safe from UK downturn.4. VR and Tech Market is the new frontier, huge growth expectedTo be fair, neither position can be certain with a startup, any sales is far fetched nevermind the profits and subsequent reflection on SP whcih will then give us our returns back.Having said that so far Jaunt and Next do not directly compare with EVRH market. But it doesnt deter them from snatching EVRH's share. The only thing which goes into EVRH favour is the royalty issue for artists and contractual agreements with content providers.Jaunt looks like a very public content provider, so you and I can upload our content and then will have to make money by making VR FANS, much like Youtube / Instagram FollowingIn the case of EVRH, artists providing content do not need to be established and announcement from established artists would not need further advertisement for EVRH.As for NEXT, I see huge potential for collaborative working, MA etc with Next and doesnt really have to be a competition at all. All rests on the quality and its launch to coincide with Facebook. Facebook link will be biggest profit generator, should that happen.BUY FOR ME
Re: Christmas is looming Just taking a look at Next and JauntAnd yes they have content, but not much and its very limited. It has no where near the back log Im expecting from EVRHYes expecting: but my expectations are based on the scale of the companies theyve signed with and the artists that gives them access to on top of the few posts regards recordings weve seen over the last yearAgain, I cant seem to add an opinion. But if I could itll be a strong buyLockers
Re: Christmas is looming Thanks JakNifeI guess NextVR and Jaunt are privately owned and perhaps not listed ?Have you invested in them or are you staying away from VR altogether ?
Re: Christmas is looming EVRH specifically CANNOT "rest on its laurels". You don't need to take my word for it, these are the words of EVRH's directors taken from the April 2016 prospectus:---------- ---------- ------"Delay in launching the MelodyVR AppThe Directors believe that there will be a first mover advantage to the Enlarged Group if the MelodyVR App is one of the first music-content related apps available for use with HMDs. The Enlarged Group intends to launch the MelodyVR App in 2016; any delay, particularly if other competitors were to make an alternative App available ahead of MelodyVRs, will have an adverse impact on the Enlarged Groups prospects"---------- ---------- ------EVRH have completely failed in this respect and their excuses for not delivering are frankly ridiculous. How difficult is it to make a simple app?EVRH's competitors are miles ahead of them. NextVR and JauntVR already have content out there and are monetising it. NextVR have agreed contracts with the same people that EVRH have but Next are actually doing "stuff", for example live-streaming VR concerts such as Coldplay earlier this year. The reality of the matter is that VR is still niche and as soon as EVRH launch that will become instantly obvious. EVRH are monetising investors dreams of what VR might look like one day before they launch and investors see the horrible truth of what VR actually looks like as an investment. JakNife
Re: Christmas is looming The thing about a rival in this industry is it will be obvious in the early stages as they try to obtain content deals Which means EVR can rest on its laurels just ticking over until its threatened and reacts with a launch and let updates fix issues. I just hope that thats not there planStill a date could be set followed by a short term spam style market campaign and get it out by Christmas Looking increasingly unlikely. Still a but in my book, just got to wait
Re: Christmas is looming Yes, my thoughts May be its not ready and perhaps its not the part of the plan.I just hope they are waiting to get it 100% right as no tech is ever 100% right, updates etc take care of imperfections. But definite growth in this sector and company, question is when and how much ?will delay in launch hamper profits, could a rival beat EVR ? definitely
Christmas is looming Its getting very close to Christmas. Thoughts? Are we still expecting to get the app out there in time to get some of that Christmas cash/publicity? All those VR Christmas Day presents need something to be used withI want to add a String Buy but my phone apparently doesnt Lockers
Good dip Good dip today, expect another dip but still bought today for long term. Any updates on the app / launch anyone ?
Re: This is not a normal pattern Yes,you are right, something going in big way.
This is not a normal pattern I have been watching daily for the last 12 months.Something is going on.Maverick
Creeping back up nicely On no news other than anticipated. If we can reach previous highs before the App launch circa 13p thats hugely promising.Id like it to be double figures and steady.Patience is the key here as money in the bank, promising technolgy, laudible partners and a strong mangement team.HOLD.
Re: Deal with ROC Nation It was put out as an RNS.
