Mercedes and Daimler EV's From Green Car Reports, of interest is the paragraph,' The electric SUV will use lithium-ion battery cells from Deutsche Accumotive, a subsidiary of Mercedes' parent company Daimler.Daimler is planning a 500 million euro ($545 million) battery plant to support increased production of both electric-car battery packs and stationary energy-storage batteries. 'That's the Daimler Gigafactory being built at Kamenz, 50 miles from the Cinovec mine.[link]
Re: Nissan Sorry TP,I was at cross purposes thinking reference to ICE was the Intercity Express train not, as it turned out, the Internal Combustion Engine as in the article.Thought I'd missed something about hybrid battery trains. About 6 months to a year ago, if my memory serves correctly, they started running trains from London to East Anglia that were hybrid. I think!! On the subject of trains, a very interesting TV program a couple of weeks ago re the French development of the AGV, the next generation after the TGV. Within the first few minutes of the program, it showed a map of the proposed network. A line crosses the Channel from France then snakes up to the Midlands. Ah Ha, say's I, that's what the proposed HS2 line is all about. Birmingham to Barcelona Direct. A new line with the continental rail gauge able to carry the super fast AGV and no doubt, the other continental trains. No doubt Virgin will be wanting a piece of the action to give them access to the continent. It's all a load of hog wash what the UK government tells us. YB
Topped up again Just a few, still not got anywhere near enough of these. Still searching my portfolio for assets in need of liquidation but it's not a particularly good day to do it today.Jump on board YB, with the current views on Li this is only going one way.TP
Re: Nissan [link]
Re: Nissan Only what I've read on the bbs about not producing IC engined vehicles after 2030. I'll have a look to see if I can spot where I read it.TP
Re: Nissan Morning TP,You mention Germany's forward looking ICE Policy. Have you any Links to their Policy for ICE?YB
Re: Li A good read TP. And what I didn't know, 12 Gigafactories currently being constructed. 'the second wave of the boom' which, if previous statements are to be believed, the demand for energy storage and Powerwall will outstrip that of vehicles. From the article,The drivers of the lithium boom are clear and present, and electric vehicles are only the beginning. The second wave of the boom will be a major surge in energy storage and powerwall demand.Even for the first phase, there is already talk of shortage for the supercharged electric vehicle industry, which is concerned about the readily available supply of lithiumand the rush is on for juniors to secure enough supply in time. As of the first-quarter of this year, electric vehicle sales had grown 42% year-on-year, worldwide, according to EV-Volumes. Everyones jumping on this bandwagoneven Uber Technologies Inc. In Europe, EVs are already profitable. In the US, all by itself, Tesla is eyeing an estimated 500,000 cars by 2018up from 80,000 this year. China is eyeing 5 million electric cars on the road by 2020. Everyones building battery gigafactorieswe count 12 in the works in total.Lithium will go for a premium, and the market has already spoken, with prices spiking from $7,000 per ton to over $20,000 per ton earlier this year.YB
Re: Nissan Morning to you too,YB. I think I like your speculation !It certainly makes sense. And the link between two of the world's largest vehicle manufacturers, coupled with the exponential advance of the EV market as a whole (and Germany's forward looking ICE policy) EMH has to be on a winner.Need to buy more, if there's any retrace !
Li From Yahoo Finance[link] more like Motley Fool in its sensationalism but the message is clear.TP
Nissan Morning TP,With yesterday's announcement and your mention of VW, I had a look at Nissan Sunderland.Interesting to read of the Nissan Infiniti Q30, Built on a Mercedes - Benz A Class platform. Of greater interest is the partnership with Mercedes to share technology. From Wikipedia:- The Infiniti Q30 is a small hatchback built and sold by manufactured by Nissan's Infiniti luxury brand from 2016. The Q30 is built on the third generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class platform to create a small, premium hatchback. The Q30 is a result of the Nissan and Mercedes partnership agreement to share technology.[2][link] to connect a few dots again, with Daimler Benze building a Gigafactory at Kamenz, 50 miles away from rge Cinovec mine, a sharing of technology, etc. Is there a possibility that Cinovec lithium will be used to manufacture batteries at Kamenz for Nissan vehicles.Pure speculation of course, but the more I look at the evolving Lithium industry, the more I try to connect the dots. Be nice if the Companies involved would connect a few dots for us.YB
Re: Topped up Hi TP and YB,Yeah, i know, very remiss of me .... and like you say, yes, i have watched and nourished other holdings and ventures .... when doing so, one is bound to slip through the net; but hope i have caught it again before it reaches the big pond .I thought if i had REM, and BCN, i would have had all i needed !!! .... (like you say, clearly not I have learned ,,, so i will listen !!!SAGE
Re: Topped up Morning Sage, TP,I seem to have the knack of watching companies such as EMH, watching their potential come to fruition and, as fully invested elsewhere, miss the boat. EMH is one such company. Whilst my other investments such as REM seem stuck in a rut, it is most frustrating to see the Watch List out performing the portfolio. As for REM. There's so much good news on all its investments, including EMH, why such a poor SP ?One possible reason. REM issues shares as if they were going out of fashion. Consolidation would possibly be of benefit. Which is why I'm encouraged that REM is quoted in American Depository Receipts via Deutsche's Bank under REMMY. 1 REMMY ADR for every 500 REM AIM listed. This gives great exposure to the American Market. Consolidation via the back door you could say. Once the American Market gets fully switched on to Lithium, REM will then I hope, really fly with all the REM AIM listed shares being soaked up in ADR's.In the meantime. Back to my rut.YB
Re: Topped up Hi, Sage. YB and I have been talking about EMH for a while now on the REM board. Surprised you've not picked up on it. But, welcome, and good luck.TP
Re: Topped up Have just bought in ; a late entrant i know ... but why didnt someone tell me several months ago ? .......................SAGE
Topped up His morning. The market hasn't yet recognised the potential here, particularly in the light of last Friday's news !
