Re: Off Take Agreements Been off the grid for a couple of days, travelling. News of LG's plant is great. As you say YB, the origin of the required Li supply would be greatly appreciated. But if they've got their eyes on Cinovec's spare capacity that would be good, also the Zinnwald production from BCN needs a home )So, EMH or KDNC ? Both continue to have potential.Happy Easter!TP

Re: Off Take Agreements Morning sage,Looking at wikipedia, LG Chem is shown as part of the LG family[link] the LG announcement, a couple of paragraphs stand out. 'Start production in the 2nd half of 2017'?? That's quick.LG Chem will build an EV battery plant inside the LG cluster located in Kobierzyce Commune near Wroclaw in southwestern Poland. The plant has a size of 41,300 ㎡ and aims to start production in the 2nd half of 2017.LG Chem will invest approximately 400 billion KRW in the plant by the end of 2018. When the investment is complete, the plant will have the production capacity that can provide more than 100,000 batteries per year for pure high-performance EVs that can run up to 320 km once charged. The plant is the first large-scale lithium-ion battery plant for automotive application in Europe.[link]

Off Take Agreements Just to add to the speculation as to who will sign up for the Zinwald and Cinovec Lithium, I heard a comment of a battery manufacturer in Poland.Poland??A quick search produced LG Chems news release last October. LG are to build an Electric Vehicle Battery Plant in Wroclaw, Poland, “We will turn the Poland EV battery plant into a mecca of battery production for electric vehicles around the world,” said UB Lee, the President of Energy Solution Company, LG Chem. He added, “As LG Chem's Poland EV battery plant is the first large-scale automotive lithium battery production plant in Europe, it will play the role of vitalizing the electric vehicle industry across the whole Europe. We will put all our efforts into making the plant into a main production hub for EV batteries.”Interestingly, Wroclaw is just 188 miles from Cinovec or 3 hours 16 minutes by roadThe Daimler Gigafactory at Kamenz, 57 miles or 1 hour 15 minutes by road.[link] news of Offtake Agreements would be welcome. Daimler? LG? Hanwa? YB

Re: Bacanora RNS - Afternoon sage,Far be it for me to suggest anything but, you can't rule anything out. The only thoughts I've had, and that's all, thoughts, with BCN's 50% of Zinwald, if the exploration and feasibility work out ok, BCN have the option of a 100% interest in the Zinwald mine. It's so close to Cinovec it could prove both mines are into the same geology. But, importantly, BCN have struck a great agreement with Hanwa who are prepared to take up 100% of the Lithium Offtake from the Sonora Project. You never know, Hanwa could now be in a very good position with BCN to negotiate a Takeoff Agreement from the Zinwald mine. This would put some pressure on Daimler's Gigafactory at Kamenz to enter negotiations if they want Zinwalds lithium or, come to that, the Cinovec lithium. Additionally Cadence (formerly REM) hold a 21% interest in EMH as well as between 19% and 43% of BCN. Looking at the Boards, a year or two ago, some of the Cadence Board were on the BCN Board and, with such a large interest in BCN, will probably still be involved. Kiran Morzaria as well as being on the Cadence Board, is on the Board of European Metals. It just makes me think, if Daimler is procrastinating about an Offtake Agreement with BCN at Zinwald or EMH at Cinovec and think they hold the whip hand, BCN and EMH may just have other irons in the fire. The Hanwa Agreement is significant and a look at the Hanwa website shows its global presence. A Hanwa Gigafactory in Europe perhaps? It's all thoughts and speculation. Interesting all the same.[link] [link]

Re: Bacanora RNS - ybhere......are you suggesting that BCN will now overtake EMH ? ....SAGE

ybhere 10 Apr 2017

Bacanora RNS - BCN's announcement of an Offtake Agreement with Hanwa to take up to 100% of the Lithium produced at Sonora, makes me wonder if a similar Agreement will be reached with the Zinwald mine in Germany. Bacanora has a 50% interest in and joint operational control of the Zinwald mine which is just a couple of miles from the Cinovec mine.Subject to the successful completion of a Feasibility Study, expected to take 18-24 months, Bacanora has the option to acquire the outstanding 50% held by SolarWorld. So far, indications and assumptions are that the Zinwald lithium is destined for the German EV industry. But nothing said so far so can't be taken for granted. Hopefully, a few more Offtake Agreements will be announced soon. Pointless digging it out of the ground if no customers. Daimler and Co may be procrastinating on the Agreement which, if they don't come to some Agreement soon, there's plenty other customers around.YB

Another tweet Extolling the green creds of Germany, saying no tailpipes in Germany by 2030. For some reason I couldn't copy the link but it shouldn't be hard to find.Just more evidence of the need for Li in Europe.EMH is in a good place right now.But they do need to get digging.TP

Re: More from Deutschland Theprior, thank you for all your posts, which I do read, although rarely tick. There is plenty of speculation in the air, particularly with the Germans. Development is moving so fast even the German govt can see their car industry being left behind. Whether this will lead to EMH being the main supplier for lithium is hard to say until we get the preliminary plan from the company. Let us hope that alongside the plan we get a JV announcement which would give route map to production.
