Re: Manipulation today... oversold ? I'll certainly be re-investing my dividend back into DOM

San Jaime 09 Mar 2017

Manipulation today... oversold ? Typical Brokers over reaction to what anyone else will see as excellent results. In the early days on AIM the DOM shares were shorted and manipulated.Today it was like the old days with 10% stop losses being triggered to cause a big sell off.Been there before and got the T-shirt so took advantage as mentioned in previous post.Like the recent BT sell off and over reaction, now is the time to buy DOM in my opinion.Even Motley Fool seems to agree with me : -----Domino’s Pizza (LSE: DOM) is one of the biggest fallers among UK shares today. Its shares are currently down over 10% after the release of its 2016 results. Could this be an opportunity for long-term investors to buy in at a severely discounted price?-----[link] the faith - Patiently waiting to see how long it takes to hit 400p again.

NEW ARTICLE: Domino’s Pizza slammed for sales miss "Having gorged on strong dividend and share price growth, LSEOMomino's Pizza shareholders were enduring a severe bout of indigestion today. The FTSE 250 stock, which has risen 70% since the start of 2015, slumped by 15% despite more strong ..."[link]

P/E remains high ~ 25 Even after today's fall the P/E based on EPS of 13.76p is approx 25.Prior to the fall the P/E was closer to 30.Probably explains the re-rating,

Re: Sell on news...... This drop really ????

pharmaspecialist 09 Mar 2017

Re: Bought on news.. Having had a quick look at the results I can see no disasters but would guess that investors are concerned about whether the company is being too agressive in its strategy for expanding in multiple countries, as well as the UK, particularly as this is part financed by debt. It is not apparent to me how successful the German business is likely to be.

Bought on news.. Could not resist a punt in this dip today, so bought a few at 333.3p.We shall see if was a poor decision - fundamentals still look good to me for hitting 400 again soon.

Sell on news...... Don't know why the big drop from 400 to 340 on opening ?Market behaving if DOMis still an AIM company.Tempted to buy on this dip but will wait.

Should have gone large back in 2000 when I bought a very modest holding at ~50p share due to my extensive customer research in those days. I also wish I hadn't sold out at £1.60 for a quick tripling of the wad as they would now be worth about £47 each taking the share splits into account.DOM remains one of my best and worst investment decisions and appears to show no signs of a fall back. Now back in since 2015 and probably the last share I'd sell now.Ch

UK Prices... Expected a bigger hit on the DOM sp as a result of the recent bad publicity comparing the UK pizza prices with USA, Australia and NZ.. Picked up by several national papers last week. Here is the link to the Metro free newspaper article I studied on the train into London.[link] admit and tend to agree the price differences seem incredible......-----"Figures show that while a large margherita in the UK costs £14.99, in New Zealand it is just £2.87.It’s a similar situation with margheritas in Australia coming to £3.04.We’re even paying more than people in the US with the same pizza in New York costing £11.93. That’s still ridiculously over-priced for a basic cheese and tomato pizza, of course"-----.Not sure that the comments from DOM's Louise Butler explain fully why the price differentials are so high.-----"Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Louise Butler, a Domino’s spokesperson, said: ‘We think the fresh, hand-made taste of Domino’s is unique but we do all we can to make it as affordable as possible.‘The average price customers pay for a medium cheese and tomato is £7.67 because of our competitive deals and bundles.‘However, unfortunately, comparisons including, rent, petrol, labour and food costs all vary greatly internationally.‘For example, in the US sales tax can be as low as 7% in some states, whereas here in the UK VAT is 20%.’ "-----OK also agree that few people pay the full list price because of all the offers available but even so the profit margins do appear to be rather on the high side.

Re: The chart is shifting... Hi SJ - well your view has been vindicated by the recovery of the SP, so well done for taking that view. Unfortunately I had a short spell in hospital just before Christmas, and have been out of things. I am fine now, but well done again with your view on DOM, and I hope it recovers some more for you - ARPS - since the SP recovered the 50 day EMA in Late November the SP has looked pretty solidly supported!

Re: The chart is shifting... Very relaxed holding here and quietly ignoring the volatility and the frustration of trading this share trying to call the peaks and the troughs. Gave up following the charts on this one.The trend has always been upwards for the patient investor. Did buy a few more at 286 this year in one of the dips. The 350 price today is £10.50 of old money before the split - meeting my expectations for year end performance, but room for improvement in 2017..Keep eating the Pizzas my friends - including those in Germany and of course Poland....

The chart is shifting... .. to a more negative stance. I sold my tiny 2K DOM for a tiny profit of just over £139 on Weds - I was hoping for 10% (£600+ profit) but the SP just hasn't performed to suggest that would be possible. The 20 day MA crossed under the 50 day MA on Oct 13th, and the 200 day MA on Oct 31st - not disastrous, but a warning that things could go on to to more downside.Uncertainty around the US election has hit sentiment, and while a Clinton victory could see a big bounce, it is clearly just too close to call at the moment, so I prefer a more defensive stance.IF sentiment sinks further the SP could test 300p, or possibly 306p - it may not happen, but I am more relaxed being out for now.

200 day MA... ...today the SP found resistance at the 200 day MA, but hopefully it will break above soon. The last time the SP swooned and broke below the 200 day MA back in mid June its action was a bit volatile, and only broke above on the third attempt, going on to make the years high.Hopefully the recovery will go further, but I dot really understand why the SP is so volatile. I just hope I can get the right side of it to make any trade worthwhile.
