Re: results Not great results but not worthy of the slump today either. European expansion showing promise and UK expansion accelerating.Holding long and strong.
Re: results This is one of 3 announcements I skipped through this morning - all seemed positive to me, yet all have reacted with drops in price. I think you're both right - at the moment market sentiment is against DOM; but the indications are that there is still considerable growth in their business with a target of increasing the UK stores by over 60%; and the Nordic business showing early promise. Debt has increased, but, of course, so have the assets. So my view is for holders to hang on and console themselves with a dividend which beats bank interest until sentiment changes; and for interested outsiders to keep a steady eye & ear on it & try to judge when markets begin to get a bit more positive.
Re: results games - "hammered -- yet results ok except for debt increase and statutory EPS down." Your view sounds a little like an excuse for DOMs performance, and that doesnt bode too well in my view - the debt issus maybe worries the market as it seems concerned about the cost of debt rising soon. I am just glad I took a (small) profit recently, as I would be over a grand down at todays price. It is going to be very interesting to see whether buyers come in soon, but as I said 'sentiment 'seems' a little fragile at the mo - lets just hope DOM can get back into positive mode soon, with a better SP. Best of Luck to all -
results [link] -- yet results ok except for debt increase and statutory EPS down.seems like an overreaction, but the market seems to want to rerate DOM down from mid 20's P/E to mid to high teens, maybe that's correct.Yield is rising - worth adding soon.Games
Re: Quality Shares... Saedoc - I hope your plan works out very well for you - all the best -
Re: Quality Shares... Iomin,Not at my best reading tealeaves but I had that as my 160p. Breakout = next bottom?I live and I learn, but wherever it go in the short term I will be buying on way up at 260p, esp if 200 50 and 20d m/a are approaching each other.Regards,Seadoc
Re: Quality Shares... Hi seadoc,If you look in September 2014 and October 2014 when the price broke out from 2.00atb
Re: Quality Shares... Andy,Yes, got a line at 240 and also at 220 (and thanks Iomin but I cannot see your 200?). I watched carefully at 320, almost sold but 320 is twice the low of 160 so held for the yield. But as your graph shows the next low could even be down at 160p But to me DOM is an investment not a trading option, have held from 2008. But you may well be right, I can get a basic margarita delivered for NZ$5. For a basic fast food store the shares were clearly way overpriced at 400p but... if this is a software business that can sell the IP through the whole world and just happens to sell a few pizzas it will clearly be undervalued at 260p and , should the situation arise, my plan is to buy on the way back up through 260p. In the meantime I hold on an AR of 23.6% over nearly 10 yrs.Regards,Seadoc
Re: Quality Shares... Hi Seadoc - thanks for the post! Unfortunately sentiment seems a bit fragile right now, and sentiment usually wins out, and I feel you are right to 'wait and see' how things pan out before adding (and I may be wrong!).DOM has been a good performer since the low point in late 2014 (around 159p), and my concern is that any negative news (IF it happens) will have an accentuated impact on the SP now that the shine seems to have come off - again its all down to sentiment in m view. Oh well. folks must make their choice and pay their money if so minded, but at least I made a few bob trading, so meantime I will just wait and watch.... Hope all goes well for you! ATB ARPS - the 5 year chart is fascinating - support at 260, and 240!? ...and so far that 'sell signal' about 3 month into this year seems to be all too right!
Re: Quality Shares... Thank you for posting Seadoc - A well worded article that should maybe make anyone hold back ahead of any profit warning, then assess the valuation & P/E then.Or even as Phil says - Try before you buy on monitoring Promotions. On a 3yr weekly chart 2.20 & 2.00 stands out to me.atb
Quality Shares... Andy,... by Phil Oakley. Uses DOM as example share. I am about 2/3 way through (suffering severe headwinds!). He did post this:[link] no big sporting events, highly "geared" buy in the sense of being in need of further increasing turnover to justify p/e and even Phil admits that <if> turnover does not continue to grow at same rate, even if it stays remains at current turnover, then the market is overvaluing this share. What do I know? I have funds for a buy at 260p but on way back up. For now I continue to hold, yield is 3% and rightly or wrongly I think Phil is right and the ROCE and CROCI will win out.Regards,Seadoc
Re: 5% drop season - I wish you lots of luck with DOM, BUT I am finding it a bit tough to read right now - It has certainly taken a beating since the 2nd top in early March. I continue to watch, but it is fascinating.... ATB
Re: 5% drop Kestrel,No. But I did spend some time on the admission document:[link] works in Turkey ?600 stores (all those returning car workers?) but just starting in Russia and although market leader in Azerbaijan and Georgia it has but 4 and 3 stores respectively. 90% of monies will go to present owners, most of rest is destined to new stores in Russia. The Chairman, CEO and main shareholder of a company that opened in Russia (OK 15 yrs ago) has told me many tales of gangsters and such is hinted at in the prospectusplease see Risks relating to the Groups countries of operationsWeaknesses relating to theRussian legal system and Russian law create an uncertain environment for business activity. For me: not a chance, and I hold DOM and DPP and both have given me very good returns, albeit not invested from IPO. If DPEU falls to 20p I will put on my watch list.If you are a trader, and I confess I am an investor rather than trader, well you could have picked some up on 28th at 160p and made a 20% profit in a week. But I fear that is dipping toes into shark infested waters. Good luck.Regards,SeadocPS to Andy, Got a 5 figure sum waiting for DOM at 260p but it will be spent on the way back up through 260p and hopefully when the 20d, 50d and 200d ma are converging again. Seadoc
Re: 5% drop K205 - not a lot of toe dipping today, more an exit from the water(!) BUT sentiment looks pretty low at the mo, and the bottom of the 14 day trading range is around 265p, so a bit of a recovery cant be too far off. The problem seems to me to be that the SP had a pretty good run right up to that 'double top' in March, and ever since the SP has been 'unravelling'! DOM needs to regain the confidence of investors and the market smehow, and meantime its hard to say when and what will restore confidence. It has been a painful ride for holders since that second double top in March, but sometimes confidence is hard to gauge, and it all seems quite irrational - I must say I am glad I traded and am currently out f DOM, BUT maybe the market is being rational, and DOMs story has peaked... I really dont know as it is a tad baffling right now - one can only hope management have a good grip on events, and the SP can recovery (...the pendulum ALWAYS swings too far in my experience!) A baff
Re: 5% drop Anybody going to dipping theirs toes into the Dominos Eurasia shares??
